Senior Connections Has a Busy December Ahead
Senior Connections in Schulenburg, is gearing up for a fun-filled week of events from Dec. 9 to Dec. 13, packed with entertainment, delicious meals, and holiday cheer. Here is what’s on the calendar: Monday, Dec. 9, Schulenburg: the week kicks off at 9 a.m. with conversations, coffee, and a lively round of dominoes or two. A mouthwatering lunch catered by Connie Koopman will feature enchilada casserole, pinto beans, and rice, followed by a dessert lovingly provided by one of our members.
After lunch, Jim and Elena Pete will lead a sing-along featuring golden oldies and festive Christmas tunes, sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Later, Sandy Anderson from True Care Living Nursing Home will call a spirited game of bingo to round out the day.
Tuesday, Dec. 10, Flatonia: the festivities continue in Flatonia at the Methodist Church satellite, with doors opening at 9 a.m. for games and good company. The home-cooked lunch menu will feature lasagna à la Roma, our famous salad, and garlic bread, topped with a sweet dessert.
The Lunch and Learn program will welcome Gavin Michulka from the Krishe Brewery State Park in La Grange, Texas, who will share insights about the park. Guest bingo caller Sherrie Haas will take the mic for a fun afternoon game.
Wednesday, Dec. 11, Schulenburg: we return to Schulenburg for another day starting at 9 a.m. with games and camaraderie. Lunch, catered by Oakridge Smokehouse, will feature fried chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli salad, and dessert.
Bingo will be hosted by Chyla Podhajsky and the team from Wellsential Nursing Facilities in Hallettsville, providing an afternoon of fun and prizes.
Thursday, Dec. 12, Brookwood Community Visit on Thursday: a group of Senior Connections members will embark on a day trip to the Brookwood Community in Brookshire, Texas. Participants will enjoy Christmas shopping, a delicious meal, and a visit to the greenhouse filled with vibrant poinsettias, all while spending quality time together.
Friday, Dec. 13, Artful Friday, Lyons Ave., Schulenburg: The week concludes with a creative flair at Arts for Rural Texas, 1206 Lyons Ave. in Schulenburg. Participants can join a slow-stitch embroidery project or dive into holiday crafts. This event is the perfect way to wrap up a week of festive fun with a bit of creativity and holiday spirit.
Looking ahead, Dec. 18, Christmas Celebration: join us for a day of holiday cheer on December 18 at the K.C. Hall in Schulenburg. We will enjoy a morning full of games, festivities, and a potluck meal, so get your name on the list to attend. Would you like to bring a side dish, dessert, or dinner rolls?
