Senior Connections Activity Center Announces Art Show
Senior Connections proudly announces its upcoming art show, “Ageless Artistry,” with a reception set to take place on April 12 from 3-5 p.m. at Jack’s Gallery, located at 1206 Kessler Ave. in Schulenburg. (next to On Point dance studio) This special event, organized in collaboration with Arts for Rural Texas, invites our talented members’ community, friends, and families to celebrate and appreciate the creativity that flourishes within our senior population.
Among the featured artists are Helen McIntyre, Cherry Wilson, Deborah Jones, Kitra Ruiz, Kim Penland, Cynthia Meyer, Jan Willett, Maxine Farley, Annette Jacek, Verna Lenth, D’ Lisa Guerrero, Berni Gillings, Amparo Salinas, Irene Janda, Betty Mulholland, Linda Barrilleaux, Diana and Troy Chafin, and Gary and Kathy Carpenter. Each artist will proudly display their creations, showcasing the fruits of their labor and the joy of artistic expression.
“Ageless Artistry” will feature many pieces of art created by our members during classes and on their own. You will find many artistic expressions on display, ranging from acrylic painting to watercolor, photography, mosaic, gelli printing, jewelry making, calligraphy, sculpture, slow stitch embroidery, ceramics, and crochet and crafts. This show’s diverse skill levels and variety of techniques highlight our members’ personalities, creativity, and passion.
For several years, Senior Connections, an activity center based in Schulenburg, with satellites in Weimar and Flatonia and dedicated to individuals aged 55 and up, has cultivated a vibrant artistic environment through its “Artful Fridays” classes held at Arts, 1203 S. Lyons Ave. in Schulenburg. The partnership with Arts for Rural Texas has allowed senior artists to explore various techniques and mediums, resulting in a diverse and impressive showcase.
The showcase will include artwork from the artists/ instructors who guide participants through different artistic disciplines at Artful Friday. Notable instructors include Claire Lewis, Stephanie Shroyer, Georgia Pohl, Sue Pape, Tory Knox, Susan Combs, and Martha Beckman, each offering unique expertise.
The artwork will be on display only and not for sale. The show will hang in the gallery for an entire month, allowing visitors ample time to appreciate the talent and creativity of our community members.
