Schulenburg Police Tackle Traffic Violations
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 20-26.
Traffic Stop
On March 20, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 500 bock of Kessler for falling to signal lane change. A warning was issued.
On March 20, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 10 block of Kessler for a defective headlamp. Driver did not have a driver’s license or insurance. Officer made driver wait for a licensed driver and advised if he pulled over again his vehicle would be towed.
On March 20, Vincent conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding. A citation was issued.
On March 22, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Kessler for obscured license plate a verbal warning was issued.
On March 23, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for a defective tail lamp. A warning was issued.
On March 23, Vincent issued a driver a warning for driving without lights when required in the 200 block of Kessler.
On March 23, Vincent issued a warning for driving without lights when required in the 800 block of Summit.
On March 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 300 block of Kessler. The driver was going 35 in a 25 mph zone. It was discovered during the stop that the driver had moved several times without reporting his change of address.
On March 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 35 mph in a 25 mph school zone.
On March 25, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 10 block of Kessler on a vehicle for driving without headlights when required. A warning was issued.
On March 25, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for defective headlamp. A warning was issued.
On March 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph school zone.
On March 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph school zone in the 300 block of Kessler.
On March 25, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 36 mph in a 25 mph school zone.
On March 26, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Kessler for a vehicle with a defective headlamp and a warning was issued.
On March 26, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Summit for a vehicle with a obscured license plate. A warning was issued.
On March 26, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Summit for a vehicle without lights on when required. A warning was issued.
On March 26, McFadden stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 100 block of Kessler. A warning was issued.
Agency Assist
On March 25, Officer Juan Castilleja assisted deputy Moore with a transient located at the Historical Marker on Hwy. 77. We identified him and transported him to American Best Value Inn and issued a hotel voucher.
Criminal Trespass
Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 100 block of St. John Rd for a verbal argument. Individual was not wanted on location and a criminal trespass waning was issued.
Disturbance
On March 20, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 500 block of Paulus for a disturbance. Parties were separated.
On March 21, Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of Wolf in reference to a verbal disturbance
On March 22 Sgt, Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 1100 block of August for a disturbance. Parties were separated.
On March 22, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 1200 block of Kallus where complainant was tired of his stepdaughter being rude to him. Officer spoke to both parties.
On March 23, Vincent responded to the 500 block of College to separate individuals arguing in the restroom.
Reckless Driving
On March 24, Kalina conducted a traffic stop on a reckless dice in the 1000 block of Kessler. Officer spoke to the driver who was not intoxicated and I advised him to obey traffic laws and to slow down.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On March 22, McFadden was dispatched to the 200 block of Heinrich for individual attempting to steal small items from Holiday Inn including a small glass turtle at the front desk, which he returned when asked.
On March 23, Vincent responded to the 30 block of East for an individual behind the restaurant. Officer advised individual to hang out at his hotel and not behind a closed business.
On March 24, Kalina responded to the 400 block of Baumgarten for a vehicle parked in front of the daycare. Officer located the vehicle owner and she was a nursing student and they were at St. Rose doing health screenings.
On March 26, Castilleja was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Main in reference to a suspicious person with a long white beard. Officer made contact with individual and informed him if he continues to bother the customers or the relay runners he will be asked to leave the area.
On March 26, McFadden was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Main for a suspicious male bothering the relay runners. A criminal trespass warning was issued.
Welfare check
On March 22, Kalina responded to the 700 block of Kessler for a welfare check on a child. All was fine.
Miscellaneous
On March 24, Kalina responded to the 800 block of Herder for an 18-wheeler stuck on the tracks. Vehicle was removed and trains resumed.
