Schulenburg Police Respond to Several Animal Complaints
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of July 7-13.
Assault
On July 9, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 200 block of St. John Rd. regarding an assault.
Animal Complaint
On July 8, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 900 block of Wolf Street regarding an aggressive white tan pitbull dog that chased two residents. Dog owner was located and made excuses about her dog not getting out or being vicious. Sgt. Tobey McFadden arrived on scene and advised that there are witnesses that advised differently. Animal Control Officer Gina Harden arrived, and while owner was holding the dog it lunged at animal control officer. Harden advised that if a single additional complaint is made, the dog would be seized.
On July 9, Harden received a voice mail regarding a dog in the 100 block of St. John regarding a dog that doesn’t a appear to have clean water and what water was in the bucket was black.
On July 11, Harden responded to the 600 block of Upton regarding a loose dog. Dog was identified and owner was located, and she came and picked up her dog.
On July 13, Krenek responded to the 1100 block of Bohlmann for a dog that had wondered up. Officer took the dog to the pound where it was secured and given food and water.
On July 13, Krenek received a call that individual advised her son was teasing their dog by putting a treat in his mouth and teasing the dog. The dog bit boy on the left side of his face cheek and chin. The boy was taken to Lavaca medical Center where the wound was cleaned, and a butterfly stich was applied. The dog is current on shots.
Criminal Trespass
On July 10, Officer Reyden Svatek spoke with complainant at the police station regarding filing a trespass against an individual.
Runaway
On July 9, Powe contacted a suspicious person in the parking lot in the 100 block of N. Kessler, for a juvenile who had runway from home. Officer contacted the mother, and the father came and took custody of the child.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle On July 13, Powe responded to the 1800 block of S. Kessler for a vehicle that all advised she heard people yelling from it. Officer was unable to locate.
Theft
On July 12, Krenek received a call from complainant advising a shipment was stolen from DFA on June 28. Officer is proceeding with the investigation.
On July 13, Officer Jeffrey Whited was dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Kessler regarding theft.
Traffic Stop
On July 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding. Driver received a warning for no driver’s license and a citation for speeding going 90 in a 75.
On July 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 300 block of Kessler for a defective headlight. Driver received a warning for defective headlight and expired registration (1-24) and a citation for no proof of insurance.
On July 9, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 98 in a 75. Driver received citations for speeding and no driver’s license.
On July 9, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for expired registration (8-23) driver received a warning.
On July 12, Krenek stopped a driver at James and Summit for disregarding a stop sign. Driver given a warning.
On July 12, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75. Driver received a citation.
On July 12, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-0 for speeding going 92 in a 75. Driver received citations for speeding and no driver’s license.
On July 12, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for operating an unregistered motor vehicle ( 6-23) Driver received a warning for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and a citation for no insurance.
On July 13, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 going 98 in a 75. Driver received a citation. Welfare Check
On July 10, Svatek was approached in the 700 block of N. Kessler by an individual requesting a courtesy ride back to his vehicle as he ran out of gas. Officer took individual back to his car.
On July 11, Svatek responded to the 1100 block of August for a welfare concern.
