    Schulenburg Police Respond to Reported Vehicle Burglary

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 17-22.

Burglary of Vehicle

On Aug. 20, Svatek was dispatched to the 200 block of Heinrich for a burglary of a motor vehicle at the Holiday Inn.

Agency Assist

On Aug. 17, Officer Reyden Svatek was dispatched to the 4400 block of E. US Hwy 90 to assist with an active disturbance. Officers were made aware it was a civil matter, and the grandmother arrived and took custody of the children.

Accident

On Aug. 18, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 500 block of College Street for a minor accident.

On Aug.19, Officer James Whited responded to an accident in the 800 block of Summit where a vehicle struck a pole, and the driver fled the scene. Unable to locate the driver.

On Aug. 20, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was notified of an accident in the Schulenburg High School parking lot.

Animal Complaint

On Aug. 21, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received a complaint about dogs getting into the garbage cans in the 1200 block of South Street. The owner of the dogs was asked to put the dogs up and pick up the garbage on the ground.

Disturbance

On Aug. 17, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 1000 block of Paulus in reference to clothes being thrown outside of the residence. Officer Castilleja along with Sgt. Roggenkamp and Officer Hailee Vincent made sure the house and no one other than the owner were inside. Individual picked up the clothes and scene was cleared.

Reckless Driver

On Aug. 19, Officer Byron Powe was advised to a be on the lookout for an older white SUV failing to maintain a single lane. Officer observed the vehicle in the 600 block of Kessler and conducted a stop and spoke with the driver. She did not appear to be under the influence of anything and expressed her frustration over being stopped and life issues. When she was done venting, she was released.

Traffic Stop

On Aug. 17, Vincent stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Main for running a stop sign. Citation was issued.

On Aug. 17, Vincent stopped a driver in the 1000 block of Kessler for a driver with expired registration (225) and failure to secure child in safety seat. Citation issued.

On Aug. 18, Officer MD Krenek stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 500 block of Kessler. Driver issued a citation.

On Aug. 18, Krenek stopped a driver in the 600 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.

On Aug. 18, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of N. Kessler going 40 in a 25. A citation was issued.

On Aug. 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding going 48 in a 35. Driver received a warning.

On Aug. 19, Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of College for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.

On Aug. 20, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 500 block of N. Kessler. Driver was issued a citation.

On Aug. 20, Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Kessler for using a wireless device in a school zone. Driver was observed holding his phone to the front of his mouth. Driver admitted to being on his phone. A citation was issued.

On Aug. 21, Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver was issued a citation.

On Aug. 22, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 36 in a 25. Driver received a citation.

Welfare Check

On Aug. 21, Vincent observed a family outside of Schulenburg Tire with a sign asking for gas and food. Officer assisted with a gas voucher.

On Aug. 22, Castilleja was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler in reference to a welfare check on a female. Officer contacted female, and she was fine.

On Aug. 22, Krenek was dispatched to the 65 block of N. Kessler for a welfare check on two students that came to school the first day and have not retuned. Officer located the lot at the RV Park, and it was empty.
