Schulenburg Police Respond to Reported Bomb Threat
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 2-8.
Terroristic Threat
On March 5, Krenek was advised of a bomb threat in the 500 block of College. No danger was found.
Animal Complaint
On March 4, Animal control Officer Gina Harden received a call from Officer Reydon Svatek about three dogs that were found during a call looking for a squatter in an abandoned house.
On March 5, Officer Hailee Vincent took possession of a puppy brought in that had been found in an empty lot near College and Upton.
On March 5, Harden received a call from Officer Vincent who was with two teenage girls who advised they found a puppy at College and Upton in a field. They advised the puppy had food. Harden took the puppy to Gardenia E. Janssen animal Shelter.
On March 7, Officer Jeffrey Whited received a complaint involving a loose dog in the county coming into the city and running on people’s property. Officer went to the 200 block of Lloyd Lane and located the dogs and spoke with one of the owners. Owner advised she would secure the dogs.
Civil Matter
On March 5, Svatek responded to the 200 block of W. I-10 Frontage Rd. regarding a civil matter.
On March 7, Svatek responded to the 600 block of Upton in regard to a child custody exchange.
Disorderly Conduct
On March 6, Krenek responded to the 500 block of College for a student not being compliant.
Disturbance
On March 8, Svatek responded to the 200 block of St. John Road for a disturbance that resulted in assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
On March 8, Whited was dispatched to the 700 block of N. US Highway 77 in the parking lot of Oakridge Smoke House involving a male and female. There was no assault and officer talked to them and they drove off in the vehicle together.
911 Hang Up
On March 7, Svatek was dispatched to the 300 block of Kallus regarding multiple 911 hang up calls.
Reckless Driving
On March 8, Whited was dispatched to the 300 block of Summit for a reckless driver.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle On March 4, Whited was advised of a possible squatter in the 500 block of Upton. Owner located and advised they were renovating the property and do not live there.
On March 4, Whited was dispatched to the 80 block of Kessler for a suspicious person at the Dollar General. Store employees gave a good description and advised it appeared the man was high and was having a full conversation with the freezer outside.
On March 5, Svatek was patrolling the area of 400 Wolf when he saw lights on at the U-Haul lot. An individual was on the property advising he left something in the truck when he rented it. He was given consent to search, and he did not find the lost item. I advised him to leave the property and not return.
On March 7, Whited was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler in reference to suspicious activity.
Traffic Hazard
On March 7, Svatek was patrolling Kessler Avenue and saw a large trash bag filled with trash in the middle of the roadway. Officer stopped and moved it out of roadway.
Traffic Stop
On March 3, Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of Lyons for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.
On March 3, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in the 700 block of N. Kessler. Driver issued a citation.
On March 4, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 700 block of N. Kessler. Driver issued a citation.
On March 7, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 500 block of N. Kessler. Driver issued a citation.
Miscellaneous
On March 7, Whited was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Main complaining about a man smoking in front of a restaurant. The owner of the restaurant does not have a problem with the individual smoking outside. No law was being broken.
