Schulenburg Police Respond to Animal Complaints

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Feb. 23-27.

Assault

On Feb. 25, Sgt. Rusty Roggenkamp responded to the 500 block of West Avenue for an assault.

Animal Complaint

On Feb. 23, Officer Jeffrey Whited was dispatched to the 600 block of Baumgarten for a loose pit bull in the area. Officer was unable to get the dog after numerous attempts.

On Feb. 23, Whited was dispatched to the 2100 block of Russek for an animal complaint.

On Feb. 25, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden was dispatched to the 100 block of Russek regarding multiple complaints about dogs coming from a neighbor’s house and getting in their backyard. A citation was issued to the dog owners.

On Feb. 25, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 100 block of Russek for an animal complaint. A citation for dogs running at large was issued.

Civil Matter

On Feb. 23, Whited was dispatched to the 25 block of N. Kessler in reference to child custody.

On Feb. 25, Vincent was dispatched to the 1200 block of James Avenue in reference to mom not giving her son his passport or keys to his vehicle.

Harassment

On Feb. 24, Officer Juan Castilleja was contacted regarding harassment by an ex wife through texting and a parenting app.

Possession

On Feb. 23, Sgt. Tobey McFadden located a subject in the 800 block of Summit who family felt he was not in the right state of mind to be driving. Subject was located and arrested on possession of marijuana charges.

On Feb. 26, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Driver arrested on drug charges.

Traffic Stop

On Feb. 23, Powe stopped a driver in the 700 block of Kessler for expired registration (125). Driver received a warning.

On Feb. 23, Powe stoppd a driver in the 900 block of West Avenue for driving with no lights when required. Driver received a warning for no lights and citation for no drivers license.

On Feb. 23, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Driver received citations for speeding and failure to stay in a single lane.

On Feb. 23, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 92 in a 75. Driver received a citation for speeding.

On Feb.23, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for expired registration. Driver received a warning.

On Feb. 23, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 92 in a 75. Probable cause search conducted due to vape pen in plain sight. Nothing located. Driver received a warning for minor in possession of tobacco and citation for speeding.

On Feb. 25, Vincent stopped a driver in the 300 block of Bucek for expired registration. Driver advised he had the test the next day so he was given a warning. Driver provided a confirmation e mail for the driving test in Columbus the next day. Vincent notified the school due to driver transporting students.

On Feb. 27, Powe stopped a driver for operating an unregistered motor vehicle in the 800 block of S. Kessler. Driver received a warning.

Traffic Hazard

On Feb. 24, Code enforcement officer Harden while driving noticed a large amount of broken glass in the curve of James Avenue and St. John Rd. Street sweeper was called to clean up the glass.

Theft

On Feb. 25, Vincent responded to the 400 block of Wolf Street for a stolen trailer from U-Haul.

Welfare Check

On Feb. 23, Whited responded to the 100 block of N. Upton regarding a person at the church driving a U-Haul truck and it smelled of marijuana. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
