Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 9-15.
Accident
On Aug. 10, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 40 block of N. Kessler for an accident in the Whataburger parking lot. The vehicle that left the damage left the scene however dash cam video shows the vehicle footage and license plate.
Burglary
On Aug. 10, Krenek responded to the 1100 bock of Simpson for burglary of a motor vehicle.
Criminal Trespass
On Aug. 12, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 1100 block of August in reference to criminal trespass. Upon officers arrival he spoke with complainant who advised an individual was dumping tires and other items on the property.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 10, Krenek responded to the 1200 block of Kessler for a civil matter.
Disturbance
On Aug. 12, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 500 block of West Avenue for a disturbance.
Reckless Driver
On Aug. 11, Krenek was dispatched to the 700-block o f N. Kessler regarding a reckless driver. Complainant advised the female driver was passing while unsafe and weaving. Officer located vehicle and followed it outside of city limits and no violations were observed.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Aug. 9, Whited responded to the 700 block of Summit for a male subject on the porch of a resident and is now in the garage without her consent. Caller felt bad for the individual and gave him some water, the male subject then went into her garage without her consent.
On Aug. 12, Whited responded to the 700 block of Baumgarten for a suspicious person and an open window. Officer believes a squatter may be entering the residence.
On Aug. 13, Whited responded to the 400 block of Anderson regarding a suspicious circumstance. Caller advises a male driver entered the parking lot then a female driver entered the parking lot and they hugged, then got into the rear seat of the female’s vehicle. They were there for a short time and then parted ways. The vehicles and parties were gone upon officers’ arrival.
On Aug. 13, Whited was dispatched to the 400 block of Black Street for a suspicious person at St. Rose Church sitting in the back of church taking pictures prior to Mass. Officer spoke to the individual who is a teacher there helping.
On Aug. 14, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 200 block of Matula Avenue regarding Wal Mart packages being delivered to a house on multiple occasions. No one lives at that location.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 10, Powe stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for a defective right headlight. Driver received a warning for headlight and a citation for no driver’s license.
On Aug. 14, Officer Reyden Svatek was advised of an 18-wheeler blocking a stop sign on I-10. The truck was parked in a no parking zone and driver stated he pulled over to sleep and didn’t see the signs. A verbal warning was given, and driver moved the truck.
Theft
On Aug. 10, Krenek was dispatched to the 25 block of N. Kessler regarding lottery theft.
Vehicle Unlock
On Aug. 9, Castilleja was dispatched to the Pilot in reference to a vehicle unlock on a Kenworth.
Violation of Protective Order On Aug. 11, Powe responded to the 1300 block of Summit for an individual that was located at a property that should not be. Officer advised her she could not be at the house, and she would be arrested if she returned.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 11, Krenek responded to the 700-block pf Paulus where caller stated an elderly man with a walker came on the porch and asked for a ride. The man appeared to be a nursing home resident. Officer located the male subject walking near the nursing home and made it back before officer could approach him. Nursing staff advised he has a criminal trespass out of Lockhart and will be sent to a different facility soon.
On Aug. 12, Castilleja was dispatched to the 500 block of Summit for a welfare check o m a male that was extremely intoxicated. Officer had requested the transport van to pick individual up and take them back to nursing home. Van was in Austin and individual had signed himself out of the facility. Medics were dispatched and individual was taken to the hospital in Hallettsville.
On Aug. 12, Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of Upton for a welfare check.
