Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of April 13-19.
Animal Complaint
On April 14, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden responded to the 500 block of Summit to pick up a cat. The complainant didn’t want a stray cat hanging around.
On April 16, Harden took a complaint at the station regarding a dog on the property getting into chicken coops. Harden contacted animal owner and they talked about ways to keep animals from roaming.
On April 18, Officer Jeffrey Whited was dispatched to the 100 block of Schultz regarding a loose dog. The dog is a white lab mix 50-60 pounds.
On April 18, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 600 block of W. I-10 regarding loose goats on the side of the interstate. Upon arrival the goats ran off in the woods.
On April 18, Whited was dispatched to the 5000 block of Falke-Heinrich regarding missing dogs from the residence.
Accident
On April 14, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 600 block of W. I-10 exit ramp for a minor traffic accident.
On April 14, Whited responded to the 600 block of Upton for a minor collision in front of the police department involving a city truck and a city official personal truck.
On April 16, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 400 block of Summit for disregarding a red light leading to a major accident.
Assault
On April 19, Whited responded to the 500 block of Wolf Street for an assault.
Civil Matter
On April 18, Whited responded to the 100 block of Simpson for a civil matter.
On April 18, Whited responded to the 600 block of Upton regarding a child custody agreement and mother refused to provide the child according to the agreement. Father wanted this documented.
Disturbance
On April 16, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 1500 block of Kellett Avenue for a disturbance.
On April 17, Officer Reyden Svatek responded to the 1500 block of Kellett Avenue for a disturbance for the second time.
On April 19, Officer Byron Powe responded to an argument between a clerk at the Hitching Post and a customer. Parties were separated.
Dog Bite
On April 19, Whited was dispatched to the 500 block of Black Street for a dog bite. Subject was watching two dogs, both Pitbull mix. Dogs were fighting over food. Complainant intervened and was bitten.
Fire
On April 18, Whited was dispatched to the 100 block of Kessler Avenue for an unknown incident. Upon arrival there was an active fire inside with smoke coming out of the building. Fire Department was dispatched and put out the fire.
Permits
On April 15, McFadden stopped a vendor who was going door to door without a permit selling asphalt jobs. Citation could not be issued due to printer problems. Warning was given and subject was told to apply for a permit to sell door to door.
Possession
OnApril 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for vehicle not being equipped with required equipment. Both occupants were arrested. Reckless Driving
On April 18, Whited received a call of a black Tesla causing a problem and being aggressive while traveling eastbound on I-10. Vehicle was heading into Colorado county.
Theft
On April 19, Powe responded to the 1300 block of Lyons regarding a theft.
Traffic Stop
On April 13, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 40 block of Kessler for driving without headlights when required. Driver issued a warning.
On April 14, Whited stopped a driver for speeding in the 82 block of Kessler for speeding. Warned for speeding and citation for expired registration from 2023.
On April 14, Whited stopped a driver in the 82 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone.
OnApril 14, Powe stopped a driver for a defective taillight in the 600 block of W. I-10 Probable cause search conducted, and open containers and small amount of marijuana located and claimed by passenger. Driver received citations for defective taillight and no driver’s license. Officer escorted vehicle to Amigos to wait for a licensed driver.
OnApril 14, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver received a warning.
On April 15, Whited stopped a driver in the 82 block of N. Kessler for going 40 in a 25 mph school zone. Vehicle had expired registration (3-24) Warnings were issued.
OnApril 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 96 in a 75. Driver received a warning for expired registration (1124) and a citation for speeding.
OnApril 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for a defective taillight. Driver received a warning for the taillight and a citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
OnApril 15, Powe stopped a driver for an expired registration (8-24) in the 600 block of W. I-10. Driver received a warning for expired registration and a citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
OnApril 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for obscured temporary plate. Driver received a warning for obscured temp plate and a citation for drivng while license invalid.
OnApril 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 85 in a 75. Driver received warnings for speeding and failure to display driver’s license.
OnApril 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 800 block of Summit for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver received a warning for failure to drive in single lane and expired driver’s license (9-27-2000).
On April 16, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 300 block of Kessler for a defective head lamp. Driver admitted to having an expired driver’s license. Driver stated he had attempted to renew his license online but had outstanding citations.
On April 17, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.
OnApril 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of Summit for failure to signal with a turn indicator. Driver received a warning.
OnApril 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for failure to signal with a turn indicator. Driver received a warning.
