Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Feb. 16-22.
Accident
Theft
On Feb. 18, Officer Byron Powe spoke to a caller who advised an 18-wheeler hit him then left the scene. Vehicle was later located, and crash report completed.
On Feb. 20, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 500-block of College for a accident in the parking lot. No injuries and the students exchanged information.
Agency Assist
On Feb. 16, Officer Hailee Vincent assisted DPS with an accident in the 2200 block of S. Kessler.
On Feb. 19, Powe assisted deputies with report of a vehicle In the ditch in the 2200 block of US 90 West. The license plate came back to a missing subject out of Desoto. Driver was identified and family was contacted. Family advised the man had early signs of Dementia and man believed he was in Desoto.
Animal Complaint
On Feb. 18, Officer Jeffrey Whited responded to the 100 block of Russek regarding a large dog in the callers backyard. I was advised the dog comes from the neighbor after digging a hole underneath the fence, Officer contacted dog owner’s mother and she was coming to get the dog.
On Feb. 19, Officer Reyden Svatek was dispatched to the 500 block of Paulus in reference to a dog inside of a garage that was barking. Officer attempted to contact the caller and was unsuccessful. Upon arrival at the residence officer did not hear any barking.
On Feb. 20, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden took a complaint from a resident in the 1200 block of South Street about three dogs that have been coming to his house and getting into his garbage cans. Officer Harden got in touch with the dog’s owner and advised of the complaint and he was advised to keep his dogs up.
On Feb. 20, Krenek was notified of a large Husky dog at the high school. Animal control was notified.
On Feb. 20, Svatek was dispatched to the 100 block of Anderson for a cow mooing all day. Upon arrival officer found two show heifers that did in fact moo.
On Feb. 21, Harden received a call from the 500 block of Agnes for dogs running the roads by her house.
On Feb. 21, Harden was dispatched to the 900 block of Bohlmann where caller was concerned about a dog, she felt did not have proper shelter for the weather that is forecasted. Harden spoke with dog owners an feels the shelter is appropriate.
Disturbance
On Feb. 22, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 1300 block of Summit for a disturbance.
Fight in Progress
On Feb. 20, Krenek responded to the High School regarding a fight in progress. Two students were held accountable and were suspended for three days.
Harassment
On Feb. 22, Powe spoke with the manager of Whataburger who advised of the same phone number calling the store nine times in a matter of 20 minutes. Officer called the number and spoke with young child and they apologized.
Security Check
On Feb. 18, Krenek was dispatched to the 300 block of Bucek to stand by for a parent staff meeting at the elementary school for a student that my turn hostile. The parents did not show up and the meeting was done without them.
On Feb. 20, Krenek stood by and monitored a class while teacher stepped out of the classroom for a few minutes.
Suspicious Vehicle
On Feb. 21, Krenek was dispatched to the elementary school pick up line regarding a suspicious black Volkswagen parked in the pickup line unoccupied and has been there for over an hour. Officer learned the vehicle belonged to an elementary teacher.
On Feb. 21, Powe took a report of a wallet being stolen. A suspect was later located and arrested on a unrelated warrant and wallet recovered.
Traffic Stop
On Feb. 17, Powe stopped a diver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Driver received a citation for speeding.
On Feb. 17, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for defective headlight. Driver received warnings for defective headlight and expired driver’s license. Driver also received a citation for driving while license invalid.
On Feb. 17, Powe stopped. driver in the 6700 block of E. I-10 for driving without lights when required taillights. Driver received a warning.
On Feb. 17, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E I-10 for no license plate lights. Driver received warnings for no license plate lights and expired registration (5-24) On Feb. 19, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning issued.
On Feb. 20, Vincent observed a driver talking on cell phone in the St. Rose school zone. Officer initiated a traffic stop and driver admitted to talking on the phone. Citation issued.
OnFeb.20,Vincentstopped a driver for expired registration in the 900 block of summit. Driver issued a citation for no driver’s license and warning for expired registration.
On Feb. 20, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 400 block of N. Kessler. Driver issued a citation.
On Feb. 21, Whited stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding. Driver received a citation for no driver’s license.
On Feb. 21, Powe stopped a driver for an unregistered vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler. Driver received a warning for driving an unregistered motor vehicle (2-23) and a citation for driving while license invalid.
On Feb. 21, Powe stopped a driver in the 14 block of N. Kessler for expired registration (12-24). Driver received a warning.
