Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the first week of Jan. 12-17.
Animal Complaint
On Jan. 12, Officer Reyden Svatek was dispatched to the intersection of Hwy. 77 and FM 1383 for a black calf out along the highway. Officer was unable to locate.
On Jan. 12, Svatek was advised by complainant that her neighbor’s dog in the 100 block of Black had barked aggressively towards her toddler. Officer spoke with the dog owner and advised they need to use a leash and keep the dog in the yard. A verbal warning was given and next time it would be a citation.
On Jan. 16, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden was flagged down by property owners about a black kitten that had been dropped off at their house in the 100 block of St. John Road. Officer caught the kitten and transported to Dr. Sladek’s Clinic to be TNR’d after the kitten was released and sent to the animal shelter.
On Jan. 16, Powe received a call regarding a dog that aggressively approached him as he was jogging. There was no one watching the dog and wanted to have it addressed with owners. Officer spoke with owners and issued a warning and made them aware of the ordinance.
Criminal Trespass
On Jan. 16, Sgt. Tobey McFadden traveled to the 700 block of S. Main for an individual that had violated a criminal trespass issued earlier in the day. Individual was advised that a warrant was being obtained.
Public Intoxication
On Jan. 16, Officer Byron Powe responded to a report for shoplifting in the 25 block of N. Kessler. An arrest was made.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Jan. 14, Svatek while patrolling in the 30 block of East Avenue and saw a suspicious truck parked in front of the Apothecary. Officer was unable to contact owner of vehicle.
Traffic Stop
On Jan. 13 Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver for defective equipment and unsafe equipment in the 500 block of Upton. Driver advised she had previously been stopped by Roggenkamp for her rear windshield being broken out but did not know about her license plate lights being out. Verbal warning was issued.
On Jan. 14, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler. A citation was issued. On Jan. 15, Officer Jeffrey Whited stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 500 block of Kessler going 46 in a 25.
On Jan. 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75. Driver received a warning. On Jan. 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 92 in a 75. The driver received a citation.
On Jan. 15, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of W.I-10 going 90 in a 75. Driver received a warning for speeding and expired registration and a citation for no insurance.
On Jan. 16, Powe stopped a driver for expired registration (10-24) in the 400 block of Summit. Driver received a warning for expired registration.
On Jan. 17, Powe stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for defective right head light. Driver received a warning.
On Jan. 17, Vincent stopped a driver in the 1000 block of Kessler for speeding. A citation was issued.
On Jan. 17, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone, a citation was issued.
Welfare Check
On Jan. 14, Svatek responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a welfare check.
