Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the first week of Jan. 5-11.
Animal Complaint
On Jan. 6, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received complaints about a female dog out on the streets again in the 600 block of Simpson. This dog has been getting out many times and the owner was advised she was getting a citation and would require showing proof of rabies shots or she could choose to have the dog impounded. Owner pleaded with officer and the owner received a warning.
On Jan. 7, Officer Byron Powe was waved down by two subjects in the 1400 block of Herder. They were looking for their cat after it was attacked by two dogs.
On Jan. 7, Harden was dispatched to the 100 block of Russek regarding multiple dogs and puppies not having proper food or shelter.
Violation of City Ordinance On Jan. 6, Powe was dispatched to the 1000 block of Eilers for a tree stump on fire in the front yard of the residence. Homeowner thought he could burn due to the burn ban being lifted. Officer advised he could not burn in the city.
Civil Matter
On Jan. 7, Officer Jeffrey Whited responded to the 600 block of West Avenue regarding two four wheelers.
Disturbance
On Jan. 5, Officer Ryan Svatek was dispatched to the 900 block of Lyons for a verbal disturbance.
On Jan. 8, Powe was dispatched to the 1200 block of Simpson regarding a recently fired employee that appeared under the influence and would not leave the premises.
On Jan. 9, Officer Hailee Vincent was dispatched to the 1100 block of Summit for a verbal disturbance. Parties were separated.
Fight in Progress
On Jan. 9, Krenek was alerted to a fight in the band hall in the 500 block of College. All three girls were sent home and were picked up by their mothers.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle On Jan. 8, Vincent was dispatched to the 100 block of Kessler for a suspicious person selling cleaning products.
Traffic Stop
On Jan. 7, Whited stopped a driver in the 77 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 35 in a 25. Driver had no insurance and expired registration and no driver’s license. Vehicle was towed and citations issued.
On Jan. 8, Svatek stopped a driver in the 200 block of Kessler for expired registration. Citation issued.
On Jan. 8, Svatek saw a subject drive over the curb while turning left from Highway 77 onto I-10. Driver swerved and office thought the subject to be intoxicated. After a traffic stop the driver was eating Whataburger and headed home. Officer advised him to drive and not eat.
