Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 6-11.
Animal Complaint
On Oct. 6, Officer Jesus Alvarez was dispatched to the 300 block of Kallus regarding an animal complaint.
Agency Assist
On Oct. 7, Officer Reyden Svatek assisted with traffic control on I-10 east before the 673-mile marker. Vehicle blew a tire and caught fire. Fire was extinguished upon officers’ arrival.
Disturbance
On Oct. 11, Officer James Whited responded to the 11 block of N. Kessler for a disturbance. Suspicious Vehicle
On Oct. 6,Alvarez stopped at the 300 block of Baumgarten regarding an unattended vehicle with the trunk open. Contacted the owner.
Terroristic Threat
On Oct. 9, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 500 block of College for a terroristic threat.
Traffic Hazard
On Oct. 9, Whited was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for lights not cycling correctly.
Traffic Stop
On Oct. 6,Alvarez stopped a driver in the 600 block of James for failure to signal turn. Citation was issued for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
On Oct. 6,Alvarez stopped a driver in the 200 block of Kessler for running a red light. Citation was issued.
On Oct. 7, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Main for no license plate lights. Driver advised she did not have a drivers license. Insurance could not be confirmed. Citations issued for no driver’s license and no insurance.
On Oct. 7, Vincent stopped driver in the 100 block of Kessler for defective equipment. Driver issued citation for no driver’s license.
On Oct. 7, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 500 block of College. Driver issued a citation for speeding in a school zone and no driver’s license.
On Oct. 9, Whited stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for trailer lights not working and no trailer license plate. Subject received a warning.
On Oct. 7, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 1000 block of Kessler. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 8, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 1200 block of Kessler for speeding. Warning issued.
On Oct. 8, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. Warning issued.

On Oct. 9, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 36 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Oct. 9, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a citation for speeding and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
On Oct. 9, Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of Bucek for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a citation for speeding and a citation for driving while license invalid.
Violation of City Ordinance On Oct. 7, Svatek was advised of a golf cart driving down the street looking at cars. Officer arrived in the area of 100 Paulus and spoke with the owner of the golf cart, and she stated she was driving around with her grandson. Officer made her aware that it is against city ordinance to drive a golf cart on the street.
Welfare Check
On Oct. 7, Vincent observed a subject leaning on a scooter in the 500 block of N. Main. Officer checked on the subject who advised they were just enjoying the fresh air. Subject wanted to arm wrestle with the officer.
