Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the first full week of May.

Animal Complaint

On May 7, Animal control officer Gina Harden was dispatched to the 65 block of N. Kessler in reference to two cats that had been trapped.

On May 9, Sgt. Tobey Mc-Fadden assisted animal control officer with catching a dog at the Engle Emporium.

On May 9, Whited was dispatched to the 200 block of Matula for snakes in the back yard of the residence, upon arrival they discovered the snakes are in the tree. Two rat snakes in the tree and officer was able to knock them to the ground.

On May 9, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 400 block of Anderson regarding a dog running at large. Officer arrived and recognized the dog from previous contacts. Animal Control officer Harden arrived and took custody of the dog. The owner has been notified and this is the third time the same dog has been running at large, owner received a citation.

On May 11, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 900 block of Eilers regarding two dogs fighting in the back yard and one was on a chain. Upon arrival the dogs were not fighting and neither of the dogs had injures.

Civil Matter

On May 6, Officer Hailee Vincent was dispatched to the 300 block of College in regard to a matter concerning a vehicle being driven by his brother in law and not making payments. Officer advised it was a civil matter.

Disturbance

On May 7, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1100 block of James for a verbal disturbance over Wi-Fi. Parties were separated for the night.

Possession of Marijuana

On May 5, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 600 Block of E. I-10 for a defective headlight. Driver was arrested after search.

Suspicious Vehicle

On May 5, Castilleja responded to the 100 block of E. Paulus for a suspicious vehicle with people inside parked for over an hour. Upon arrival the vehicle had left.

Traffic Stop

On May 5, Powe stopped a driver in the 200 block of Heinrich for no license plate lights. Three subjects were under the age of 21 and found in possession of alcohol. Subjects were made to empty all containers then driver issued a verbal warning for no license plate lights.

On May 6, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 40 in a 25. Citation issued.

On May 6, Vincent stopped a driver for running a red light at Hwy. 77 and 90. Driver advised he was running late to go to the airport. Driver received a citation.

On May 6,Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Hummingbird for not wearing a seat belt. Citation was issued for no driver’s license.

On May 7, Vincent stopped a driver for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler. Driver issued a citation for expired registration (4-24) and a warning for speeding.

On May 7, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver was a teacher and knew it was a school zone but advised he was late to work. Officer advised he would give a warning but next time would be a citation.
