Schulenburg Police Officers Continue Issuing Speeding Citations In School Zones

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Feb. 6-12:

Agency Assist

On Feb. 7, Sgt. Tobey McFadden assisted Deputy Ryan Meagher on a pursuit, which ended in Colorado County.

On Feb. 9, McFadden assisted family members with getting into a home to assist with getting door open. The property owner kicked in the front door.

Animal Complaint

On Feb. 11, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 700 block of Kallus where complainant informed officer that a dog had chased her and it is not the first tine. Officer spoke with the dog owner and advised they need to keep their dog on a leash whenever they have him in the yard. Officer advised if called out, a citation would be issued.

Burglary of Vehicle

On Feb. 9, Officer Chris Kalina investigated three vehicle burglaries.

Civil Matter

On Feb. 10, Kalina responded to the 1500 block of Kellett for an unruly tenant.

Disturbance

On Feb. 9, Kalina responded to the 1000 block of Paulus for an argument.

Suspicious Person

On Feb. 8, McFadden responded to the 200 block of Klesel for a suspicious person. Officer observed a subject and spoke with him but did not have enough evidence at this time.

On Feb. 8, Parkinson responded to the area of Kellet and August for a suspicious person roaming the neighborhood.

Traffic Stop

On Feb. 6, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Kessler for a vehicle that had a defective headlamp. A warning was issued.

On Feb. 6, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 10 block of Kessler for driving without headlights when required. A warning was issued.

On Feb. 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 34 mph in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for going 40 in a 25 mph school zone and for no insurance and expired registration. Citations were issued.

On Feb. 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Hwy. 77 and Hummingbird for causing a crash. Citations were issued.

On Feb. 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for a vehicle going 34 in a 25 mph school zone.

On Feb. 8, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for a vehicle going 39 in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 9, Kalina attempted to stop a vehicle in the 500 block of Paulus for running a stop sign and no turn signal. Officer caught up with the vehicle and it had turned into its driveway. Officer activated his light and the driver got out of the vehicle and saw my lights and me and went into his house. Officer waited for back up and them knocked on the door and placed the individual in handcuffs. Citations were issued and vehicle was towed for no drivers’ license not having insurance.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for going 40 in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for going 60 mph in a 25 mph school zone. Issued a citation.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for driving 40 in a 25 mph school zone. Driver also admitted to have been in the state for some time. A warning was issued for failing to report a change of address and a citation for speeding.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 35 in a 25 mph school zone. Citation was issued for the violation.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 41 mph in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued for the violation.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 39 in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 40 in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 39 in a 25 mph school zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 52 in a 30 mph. Drivers registration was also expired and citations were issued.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 48 in a 30 mph zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 49 mph in a 30 mph zone. A citation was issued.

On Feb. 12, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Anderson and Upton for driver rolling through the stop sign and for failing to yield right of way.

Miscellaneous

On Feb. 11, Parkinson identified a subject in the 1100 block of Baumgarten and was told to stop all work and get a permit from the city.

On Feb. 12, Officer Duane Meagher stopped by the 1100 block of Bohlmann and observed individual walking through Wolters Park after closing hours. Individual was intoxicated and was released to his sister.
