Schulenburg Police Keep Busy with Traffic Violations
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of April 3-9.
Animal Complaint
On April 5, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 100 block of Upton for a loose dog. It was described as a possible Mastiff with a chain attached to the collar. Officer was able to locate the dog and transported to the city pound.
On April 6, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 800 block of North in reference to loose goats Officer located the goats and put them back in the pasture.
On April 9, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 600 block of Bohlmann for a loose dog. Officer recognized the dog and contacted the owner.
Accident
On April 6, Kailna responded to 89 Kessler Ave. for a vehicle getting stuck in the ditch. Officer asked about a tow truck and she requested one.
Agency Assist
On April 4, McFadden assisted Deputy Moore at Hwy. 90 and Popp Ln. with a vehicle search for a vehicle that tossed drugs out of the car.
On April 9, Castilleja assisted Deputy Moore with a traffic stop at the 674 West I-10 resulting in a warrant arrest with a secondary charge for possession.
Burglary
On April 7, Kalina responded to a burglary of a habitation in the 200 block of Schultz. Three subjects were arrested for numerous charges.
Civil Matter
On April 9, McFadden was dispatched to the 700 block of Kallus for a tenant that did not want the new property owner on the property.
Criminal Mischief
On April 6, Kalina investigated criminal mischief in the 700 block of N. Hwy. 77.
Disturbance
On April 6, Kalina responded to the 150 block of Kellett for a disturbance Officer was informed the couple was going through a divorce and the husband had arrived and wanted to get some of his belongings they began to argue over the property. Individual gathered a few things and left the property.
Reckless Driver
On April 7, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 800 block of Paullus for kids racing up and down coming back from lunch break.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On April 4, Castilleja responded to the 700 block of N. Main for people walking in the waterway towards the railroad tracks. Officer arrived and identified a person and she informed that she was collecting rocks to make jewelry.
Traffic Stop
On April 3, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding. A citation was issued.
On April 3, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Kessler for no license plate. A citation was issued for no insurance.
On April 4, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Summit for speeding. A warning was issued.
On April 4, McFadden stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued for speeding in a school zone.
On April 4, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Castilleja for failing to drive in a single lane and a warning was issued.
On April 4, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 80 block of Kessler for driving without lights when required and the driver did not have a driver’s license.
On April 5, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Summit for a vehicle with a defective lamp. Driver also failed to maintain financial responsibility.
On April 5, Officer Frank Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 32 mph in a 25 mph school zone.
On April 5, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of East Ave. for disregarding a stop sign. Operator had no drivers’ license.
On April 5, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of East Ave. for disregarding a stop sign. A warning was issued.
On April 6, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Summit for turning left from the wrong lane. A warning was issued.
On April 8, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 10 block of Kessler for failing to signal lane change. Warning was issued for failing to signal lane change as well as failing to have financial responsibility.
On April 9, Castilleja stopped a vehicle for defective brake lights in the 10 block of Kessler. A warning was issued.
On April 9, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for running a red light. A warning was issued.
Violation of City Ordinance
On April 4, Parkinson stopped by the 400 block of Summit to check on a permit for the work. The workers were not sure so they made contact with the boss and advised they were on the way to take care of that. Officer instructed all to stop everything until a permit is obtained.
Miscellaneous
On April 4, Parkinson responded to the 100 block of Russek where complainant advised her neighbors’ light was shining in her yard and house. Officer did not see it since it is daylight but will look again around 8 p.m.
On April 4, Castilleja was informed by a caller who advised there was an 18-wheeler idling outside of their residence. Officer advised complainant they were waiting for a worker.
On April 6, Kalina responded to the 100 block of Russek where complainant advised her neighbors are always blowing leaves and grass in her yard. She advised the neighbor has chickens next to her property and they have a heat lamp on them. She advised, as well, that there is too much motorcycle and vehicle traffic coming and going and she is concerned for her safety. She advised she has purchased security cameras and may need help getting them installed.
