Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Dec. 1-7.
Traffic Stop
On Dec. 2, Officer MD Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in the 500 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.
On Dec. 2, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation was issued.
On Dec. 2, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation was issued.
On Dec. 3, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for driving without lights when required.
On Dec. 3, Vincent stopped a driver in the 800 block of Wolters for running a stop sign. Driver issued a citation for no insurance.
On Dec. 4, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 200 block of West for operating a vehicle where prohibited and expired registration (8-23) and no commercial driver’s license.
On Dec. 4, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of N. Kessler going 43 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Dec. 4, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 39 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Dec. 4, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a citation.

On Dec. 6, Krenek stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Dec. 4, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 1100 block of James Avenue where caller advised of a male subject who appeared in some sort of crisis. The individual was walking in front of cars and appeared to be punching the air. Officer was unable to locate.
On Dec. 4, Vincent observed a vehicle behind Farmers Insurance in the 500 block of Lyons. Officer made contact and all was fine, man rents a space there.
On Dec. 6, Officer Reyden Svatek was dispatched to the 100 block of N. Upton for a male subject wearing all black sleeping on the back patio of the Baptist Church. Officer was unable to locate.
Miscellaneous
On Dec. 3, Svatek received a call from the 400 block of Baumgarten about an opossum in a trap. Officer arrived at the residence and put the trap in his car and drove out to the county and released the opossum into the wild.
