Schulenburg Police Chief Reports on Recent Activity
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 10-16.
Animal Complaint
On Aug. 10, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 50 block of N. Kessler for a white Chihuahua running in the parking and into traffic on Kessler Avenue. The dog was gone upon officers’ arrival. Officer was unable to locate.
Animal Complaint
On Aug.14, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden responded to the 100 block of Meadow Creek for a racoon that caller had trapped in the backyard. Officer picked up and released into the country.
Accident
On Aug. 11, Officer Hailee Vincent was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a medical related traffic accident. Vehicle struck a concrete pole by the gas pump.
On Aug. 14, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 300 block of Summit for a collision with no injuries at the intersection of Kessler and Summit.
Agency Assist
On Aug. 11, Officer Juan Castilleja along with Sgt. Roggenkamp assisted Deputy at Clarks Trailer Park in reference to a verbal disturbance. All parties were separated.
On Aug. 13, Whited was dispatched to the 600 block of FM 2600 to assist Sgt. Mc-Fadden until deputies arrive.
Burglary
On Aug. 14, Powe responded to the 1200 block of Kessler for multiple items stolen from the business.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 11, Officer Reyden Svatek was dispatched to the 1500 block of Kessler regarding a civil matter over a sold vehicle.
On Aug. 14, Powe responded to the 200 block of W. I-10 frontage Road for a guest upset over not being allowed back into his room. Subject gathered his belongings and left.
On Aug. 15, Castilleja was dispatched to the 25 block of N. Kessler for a child custody issue.
Citizen Assist
On Aug. 12, Vincent observed a few subjects outside in the 700 block of Lyons Avenue treating fresh wounds on an individual. Officer was told the individual fell on the concrete. Medic 4 arrived and attended to the injured person. The person felt lightheaded and fainted and went by life flight to hospital.
Criminal Mischief
On Aug. 13, Officer MD Krenek was advised of criminal mischief to a student’s vehicle. A report was taken.
Disturbance
On Aug. 11, Svatek was dispatched to the 1300 block of Summit for a disturbance between a neighbor and family member.
On Aug. 12, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1000 block of Kessler in reference to a disturbance between two individuals. Parties were separated.
On Aug. 14, Whited was dispatched to the 1100 block of Baumgarten for a verbal disturbance.
Found Property
On Aug. 14, Powe took a call from a city worker advising of an air compressor on the side of the road.
Missing Person
On Aug. 16, Svatek was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a missing person report.
On Aug. 16, Svatek responded to the 25 block of N. Kessler where caller advised she had not heard from her son. Officer took all information needed.
Possession
On Aug. 10, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for an obscured temporary plate. Drugs and a firearm were seized. Jail refused arrest and will present the case to the DA.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle On Aug. 13, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1800 block of S. Highway 77 in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Officer did not locate a vehicle.
On Aug. 14, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 89 block of Kessler for a black female wearing a black hoodie standing in the middle of Hwy. 77. Officer gave her a courtesy ride to Wealder.
911 Hang Up
On Aug. 12, Castilleja along with Vincent were dispatched to the 200 block of South Street regarding multiple 911 calls from a child. Officers spoke with the residents and the child and explained the 911 was for emergencies.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 11, Vincent stopped a driver in the 600 block of Summit for running a red light. A citation was issued.
On Aug. 12, Svatek stopped a driver in the 200 block of Kessler for disregarding a red light at Kessler and College. A citation was issued.
On Aug. 12, Krenek stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.
On Aug. 13, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for a defective head lamp. Driver issued a warning.
On Aug. 13, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of N. Kessler. Driver received citations for speeding going 37 in a 25. A citation for no driver’s license and no insurance.
On Aug. 13, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 Block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 42 in a 25. Citation issued for speeding and no driver’s license.
On Aug. 13, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 37 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Aug. 13, Powe stopped a driver in the 200 block of N. Kessler for disregarding a red light. Driver received a citation.
On Aug. 13, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 Block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a bcitation.
On Aug. 14, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 40 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Aug. 14, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 30 in a 25. Driver received a warning.
On Aug. 14, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone going 40 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
Traffic Hazard
On Aug. 15, Svatek was dispatched to the 700 block of Kessler for an 18-wheeler stopped at the underpass. The 18-wheeler driver was advised he could clear the underpass.
On Aug. 15, Whited while patrolling came across an 18-wheeler disabled in the roadway. A wrecker was called.
Violation of City Ordinance On Aug. 10, Powe observed three vehicles parked on the soccer field and the chain blocking the entrance lying on the ground. The three subjects advised the chain was down upon their arrival. Vehicles were moved and all three issued citations and told not to park there in the future.
