Schulenburg Police Chief Reports on Recent Activity

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 15-21 .

Animal Complaint

On May 17, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 1200 block of Upton regarding sheep under owner’s carport. Owner of sheep was located.

On May 17, McFadden was dispatched to the 700 block of Baumgarten for a small kitten caught in a trap. Kitten was taken to a new owner.

Accident

On May 18, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for an accident in the parking lot. Drivers exchanged information.

Criminal Mischief

On May 18, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 700 block of Simpson regarding kids hitting golf balls against complainant’s window and damaging her screen. The balls were laying in the yard next to the window. Complainant wanted to talk with the children’s mom to tell her what the kids were doing. Vincent made contact with the mom and she advised she would be speaking with the boys that evening.

Civil Matter

On May 21, McFadden responded to the 600 block of Upton for a standby for a child custody exchange.

Disturbance

On May 18, Vincent responded to the 200 block of St. John Rd. for a disturbance.

On May 19, Kalina responded to the 200 block of Saint John Rd. in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival there was approximately 50 people in the street yelling. Officer found they were making a music video and were riding a child’s scooter. Individuals left the location but the child and grandmother refused to give any names for this incident.

Traffic Stop

On May 16, Officer Frank Parkinson issued a warning on a vehicle in the intersection of Upton and Summit for a tail lamp and a citation for not displaying his driver’s license when asked.

On May 16, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.

On May 16, Parkinson issued a citation for a driver going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 800 block of Kessler.

On May 16, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone.

On May 16, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 40 block of Kessler for no front license plate and expired registration.

On May 16, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Interstate 10 for speeding. A warning was issued.

On May 16, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for license plate not being visible from 50 feet. A warning was issued for defective equipment.

On May 16, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for defective tail lamp.

On May 16, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 80 block of Kessler for vehicle that failed to signal lane change. A warning was issued.

On May 16, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle for running stop sign in the 30 block of East Ave. Driver received a warning for failure to signal and failure to display drivers license. Citation issued for running stop sign.

On May 16, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 20 block of Kessler. Driver was going 52 mph in a 40 mph.

On May 17, Powe stopped a vehicle for an expired registration in the 300 block of Kessler. Citation was issued for expired registration and warning for operating a vehicle without registration insignia.

On May 17, McFadden stopped a driver at Baumgarten and Bohlmann for failure to signal a turn. A warning was issued.

On May 17, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Kessler for disregarding a red light. A warning was issued.

On May 17, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.

On May 17, Powe stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 100 block of Kessler. Citation was issued for driving without a license and failure to maintain insurance (jail not accepting class B arrest at this time).

On May 17, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Herder for expired registration. Driver received a citation for no driver’s license.

On May 17, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Summit for expired registration. Driver received a citation.

On May 18, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 200 block of Kessler. A citation was issued.

On May 18, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Baumgarten for failure to signal a turn. A citation was issued for no drivers license.

On May 20, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for a vehicle that displayed an unclean license plate.

On May 20, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 48 mph in a 30 mph zone.

On May 20, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 53 mph in a 30 mph zone. Driver issued citation for no insurance and no driver’s license.

On May 20, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 46 mph in a 30 mph zone.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of Summit for expired license plates. Driver received a warning.

On May 20, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 700 block of N. Kessler going 64 mph in a 45 mph.

On May 20, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of I-10 for expired registration. Driver received a warning.

On May 20, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 59 mph in a 30 mph zone. Citation was issued.

On May 20, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding.

On May 20, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for a defective tail lamp. A warning was issued.

On May 20, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 34 in a 25 mph zone. Citation issued.

On May 20, McFadden stopped a vehicle for defective tail lamps in the 1100 block of August. Vehicle registration was expired.

On May 20, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for license plate not being visible.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 57 block of N. Kessler. Citation issued for speeding going 51 in a 40 mph zone. Warning issue for expired registration.

On May 21, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the intersection of Summit and US Hwy. 77 for running a red light.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for failure to dim headlights when meeting driver. A warning was issued.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving without lights when required.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of N. Kessler for failure to drive in a single lane. A warning was issued.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of James for failure to signal turn. Driver received a warning for no turn signal and expired drivers license. Driver received a citation for no insurance.

On May 21, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Lyons and Summit for going 40 in a 30 mph zone. Driver issued warning and citation for two kids that were not secured.

On May 21, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Summit and US Hwy. 77 for expired registration and a citation for no drivers license.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of N. Kessler for expired registration. Driver received a citation.

On May 21, Powe stopped a vehicle for failure to drive in a single lane in the 700 block of N. Kessler.

On May 21, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Kessler and College for failing to yield right of way.

Miscellaneous

On May 15, Vincent was dispatched to the 1500 block of Kellett for young children possible throwing rocks at windows and knocking on other doors. Officer observed a group of kids and spoke with them about the importance of respecting other people’s property.

On May 16, Parkinson assisted a stranded motorist and his dog in the 300 block of Schulz.

On May 16, Kalina gave a courtesy ride to a homeless male to Amigos.

On May 20, Castilleja was informed of an 18-wheeler with load that had shifted and was about to fall off the trailer in the 400 block of Summit. Officer located the 18-wheeler and with assistance from the city workers. They got the load properly secured on the trailer so the operator could continue onto his delivery.

On May 21, Powe was dispatched to the 1300 block of Pierce for a possible house fire. Resident was burning trash in the backyard. Fire department extinguished the fire and issued a warning for outdoor burning.
