Schulenburg Police Chief Reports on Recent Activity
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of April 10-16:
Alarm
On April 10, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 77 block of Kessler for a front door motion burglary alarm. Manager and employee in Dairy Queen advised they hit the wrong button to deactivate the alarm. Call was cleared.
On April 16, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 700 block of Lyons to an alarm going off. Upon arrival bank employee advised all was fine.
Assault
On April 10, McFadden responded to the 700 block of N. US Hwy. 77 to speak to a female that advised she had been assaulted. Officer took information and was then advised this took place in Lavaca County. Authorities were notified.
Accident
On April 13, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 700 block of Kessler for a minor vehicle accident in the Pilot parking lot. Parties exchanged information.
On April 16, Kalina responded to the 1000 block of N. Kessler for minor vehicle accident.
Civil Matter
On April 10, McFadden responded to the 700 block of Kallus who escorted he new owner to the property.
Disturbance
On April 14, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 1000 block of Paulus for parties that were arguing. Parties were separated.
On April 15, Kalina responded to the 50 block of N. Kessler where caller advised of a child being disciplined.
On April 16, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 1100 block of Upton for a verbal disturbance. Parties were separated
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On April 10, Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of Herder in reference to suspicious persons walking on Herder and N. Main. Both individuals were identified and call cleared.
On April 11, Kalina responded to the 100 block of Old Hwy. 90 Loop for a vehicle parked in the ditch. Officer ran the plates and vehicle was not stolen. The vehicle was secured and not blocking the highway. Owner was located and no one home. Vehicle was tagged.
On April 12, Kalina re sponded to the 800 block of Wolters for an individual lying behind the fire station. Individual was homeless and was traveling. Officer advised he could get him a hotel for the evening. He declined and Officer offered a ride home, which he declined.
On April 15, Castilleja was informed of a suspicious vehicle in the alleyway by Leon’s on Wolters Ave.
On April 15, Vincent responded to the 1200 block of Kellett for people knocking on people’s doors and running. Young kids were stopped and parents called and made sure they went home.
Traffic Hazard
On April 11, Kalina responded to the 300 block of E. Summit in reference to an 18-wheeler stuck in the ditch. Officer spoke to the driver and advised he has a tow truck coming.
Traffic Stop
On April 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone. Driver was going 44 mph in a 25 mph zone.
On April 14, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 36 mph in a 25 mph school zone.
On April 14, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 43 mph in a 25 mph school zone.
On April 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 34 mph in a 15 mph school zone.
On April 15, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for a license plate light. Driver was issued a warning.
On April 16, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for a defective headlamp. Driver was issued a citation for expired drivers license.
On April 16, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 200 block of Kessler. Vehicle was going 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. A citation was issued.
Traffic Hazard
On April 12, Vincent responded to the 600 block of East I-10 Hwy. for an 18 wheeler that broke down. Assisted with traffic control.
On April 12, Kalina responded to the 1000 block of Summit for a fence post lying in the roadway. Officer found three posts blocking the intersection of Bolhmann and Summit. Officer called the city to bring a truck to haul the post off.

On April 16, Kalina responded to the 600 block of I-10 for an 18-wheeler blocking the exit ramp. A good Samaritan offered to move the truck to Pilot.
Miscellaneous
On April 11, Kalina responded to the 200 block of College for work being done without a permit.
