Schulenburg Officers Issue Several Traffic Citations

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Jan. 30 through Feb. 5.

Animal Complaint

On Feb. 4, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 1200 block of Kallus for lose dogs. Officer located the dogs and was able to put them back in pen. Officer needs to contact owner and issue a citation for loose dogs.

On Feb. 2, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 1300 block of Kallus for dogs messing up complainant’s yard. Dog owner advised he would put a leash on them. Officer advised if he had to come out again for this he would receive a citation.

On Feb. 3, Sgt. Tobey McFadden responded to the 600 block of South St. for a dog chained to a tree. Officer was unable to locate the dog.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle

On Jan. 30, McFadden was dispatched to the Dollar General in the 65 block of Kessler for a man sleeping between Dollar General and the RV Park in the grass.

Traffic Stop

On Jan. 30, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for a defective tail lamp. A warning for defective headlamp was issued.

On Jan. 30, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of Kessler for failing to maintain a single lane. Police had several calls about the vehicle driving reckless. A warning was issued for failure to maintain a single lane.

On Feb. 1, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for driving without lights when required. A citation was issued for no driver’s license.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 36 in a 25 mph school zone. On Feb. 2, Parkinson

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 46 in a 30 MPH zone.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 38 in a 25 mph school zone. Driver got his license plate from under the drivers seat. Driver was asked why it was not being displayed. Driver was issued a citation for that as well.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 35 MPH in a 25 MPH school zone. He was not able to show proof of financial responsibility. Driver was issued a citation for failure to maintain insurance.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for driving 32 MPH in a 25 MPH school zone.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 34 in a 25 MPH school zone. Driver was issued a citation for not having insurance.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for going 34 in a 25 MPH school zone.

On Feb. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 52 in a 30 MPH zone.

On Feb. 4, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for a vehicle with a defective tail lamp.

On Feb. 4, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of N. Kessler for a vehicle driving without headlights when required. Driver was issued a warning.

On Feb. 5, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of Bohlmann for an obscured license plate. The driver advised they did not have a driver’s license and it was observed that one of her children was not in a safety seat. A citation was issued for failure to secure child in safety seat and a warning for no driver’s license and obscured license plate.

Agency Assist

On Feb. 2, Officer Juan Castilleja assisted medic four at the Garden Walk apartments in reference to a three-year-old female who had consumed his brother’s seizure medicine.

Violation of City Ordinance

On Feb. 4, Castilleja was contacted about animals running at large. Officer located the owner of the dogs and advised him a citation would be issued for the infraction.

Welfare Check

On Jan. 30, Officer Duane Meager responded to the 900 block of James Ave. to check on an individual.

On Feb. 1, Vincent responded to the 1200 block of Babylon for a welfare check. Officer spoke to the individual and advised they were going to see the doctor.

Miscellaneous

On Feb. 1, Vincent responded to the 1100 block of James where individual advised someone stole his barbecue pit from property. It was determined that two people had the same pit bought from the same person. Apologies were accepted and parties were separated.
