Schulenburg Officers Handle Thefts, Traffic Violations
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of July 12-18.
Ambulance Call
On July 18, Officer Bryon Powe responded to the 200 block of East Avenue for a resident yelling out for help from her locked apartment. Contacted staff who unlocked the house and assisted EMS with loading resident onto stretcher.
Agency Assist
On July 16, Officer Juan Castilleja assisted Deputy Geer with a traffic stop at Pilot in the 700 block of N. Kessler. A probable cause search of the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana was done and the results were negative. Warnings for traffic infractions were issued.
Animal Complaint
On July 14, Powe responded to the 100 block of E. Paulus for two loose dogs.
On July 17, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden responded to the 1500 block of Kessler for a horse loose by Highway 77. Officer located the horse about 15 feet from the highway. The horse was led to the back of the property and owner was located next door and horse was led home. Horse owner had been hobbling his horses in the ditch and Chief Brenek was asked and advised it was allowed.
On July 18, Officer Hailee Ellis was dispatched to the 1500 block of Kessler Avenue for a horse close to the road. All was good.
Criminal Mischief
On July 15, Officer James Whited was dispatched to Perdue in the 1300 block of Russek regarding criminal mischief to an employee vehicle. Vehicle was scratched up and video footage shows an employee doing the incident.
Civil Matter
On July 13, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 200 block of W. I-10 frontage road to meet complainant that was upset with management. Officer advised it was a civil matter.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle On July 16, Castilleja ob-served a individual crossing the 400 block of Summit carrying an old piece of wood. Officer contacted the person, and all was good.
On July 17, Ellis was dispatched to the 600 block of Summit for individual by her vehicle. Officer assisted with getting her vehicle started and back on the road.
Theft
On July 16, Whited was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a report of a gun stolen from the bathroom at the Pilot.
On July 12, Castilleja was dispatched to the 100 block of Hummingbird Avenue regarding a theft of a firearm.
Traffic Stop
On July 13, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for operating an unregistered motor vehicle (2-24) Driver received a warning.
On July 14, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 93 in a 75. Driver received a citation.
On July 14, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for a defective headlight. Driver received a warning.
On July 17, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for failure to stay in a single lane. Driver received a warning.
On July 17, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for an unregistered motor vehicle and driver received a warning.
On July 17, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for expired registration (5-26) Driver received a warning.
On July 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 200 block of N. Kessler for running a red light. Driver received a citation.
Traffic Hazard
On July 14, Krenek was dispatched to the 800 block of James regarding a tractor trailer that struck electrical lines and the lines were down. Upon arrival the driver advised the lines were already hanging low and she stuck them with the windshield of her tractor. Schulenburg electrical crew arrived and advised the tractor trailer was not the cause of the down power lines, a tree limb had fallen.
Welfare Check
On July 12, Whited was dispatched to the 500 block of Simpson for a welfare concern.
On July 15, Krenek was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a welfare concern.
