School Introduces Guardian Controls For Library Books

As La Grange ISD has tried to navigate the world of protests from people in the community about the content of school library books, the district has announced a new plan to put the responsibility onto parents.

In a letter send out to parents last week the school said “Our school district is introducing new guardian controls in the library catalog, which will allow you to select certain books to restrict from your child’s checkout options based on your preferences.”

The letter detailed how parents can log into an account to restrict there kids from checking out individual titles.

Two after school meetings were also detailed in the letter to “designed to help you learn how to use this new feature.

“This event will guide you through the process of setting up these controls and give you a chance to ask any questions. Our library staff will be available to assist and ensure you feel comfortable navigating the system.”
