Schmeckenfest Coming Up Thursday

The streets of the downtown square La Grange will be packed with thousands of folks an the annual Schmeckenfest like here in this file photo from a previous fest.

La Grange’s iconic holiday event Schmeckenfest will be on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5-8 p.m. The parade will kick off the event beginning at 5:15 p.m and proceed down Colorado St. towards the courthouse square.

There are 28 wassail booths registered to serving free hot cider around the square. Also 19 food booths and eight entertainment booths have registered for the event. There will be performances from the German Club German Dance Team and the La Grange Road Runners Square Dance Group.

Camp Lone Star will have their Rock Wall set up on Main Street, and Santa and Mrs. Claus can be found for pictures in Grandmother’s Flower Garden next to the Quilt Museum in addition to an ornament craft from the Quilt Museum. There will also be the “Texas Special’ for kids at the Depot Museum, and Gardenia Janssen will be hosting an “Adopt-A-Pet Snuggle Station” on the square.

2024 Commemorative Schmeckenfest Steins are also available now at the Historic Casino Hall for $12.
