Sacred Heart Altar Society Meets April 7

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday April 7, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard financial reports. There was no correspondence to be read to members at this meeting. Sixteen ladies attended the meeting.

The Spirituality Chair Marian Tajchman spoke to members about Holy Week.

Judy Langhamer sent her report that the Easter flowers had been ordered and that donations were coming in. It was reported that Peggy Sulik and member volunteers continue to care for the vestments and altar cloths as needed. Some new cassocks have been received and some surplus cassocks have been purchased from Second Chance. These are being updated by Elaine as time allows.

Under the Service Commission, April Feray reported on the donations made to the Clerical Endowment Fund for the previous month. Emma reported that no Get Well cards had been sent during the previous month. Barbara Schellberg gave her report on a CEF enrollment sent to a member for her over 90 birthday during the month of March. Judy provided her report which was read by Karen that one funeral lunch had been served during the previous month and presented the financial report for the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Under the Leadership Commission, Trish Pechal reported that one new member had been approved by Father Chris since the last meeting. The Rural Life Mass will be held on Aug. 28 at St. Monica’s in Cameron.

Under unfinished business, Karen thanked those members who assisted in leading the Stations of the Cross on April 4. It was announced that Judy was currently attending the convention as a delegate for our deanery. Karen reported approving a donation to the convention offertory from the PCCW. Inquired about offering CEF enrollments to parishioners as special remembrances to be given to Mothers on Mother’s Day and Fathers on Father’s Day. She will speak with Father Chris to obtain his approval for ways to make this available to parishioners prior to these events. A discussion was also held on ideas for updating the membership roster booklet.

Having no further business to discuss, attendance prizes were drawn. President Karen Janda led the members in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned.
