Rural Community Health Fund Grants Awarded
On Sept. 9, the Fayette Community Foundation celebrated its inaugural Rural Community Health Fund (RCHF) grant recipients at a special awards reception held at Austin PBS. The event brought together 19 Central Texas organizations, each awarded a portion of the $250,000 in funding, to celebrate their achievements and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Over the past year, the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) has partnered with St. David’s Foundation to establish the Rural Community Health Fund (RCHF), serving as an intermediary to support rural communities in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, and East Williamson counties. The Rural Community Health Fund initiative seeks to break down barriers to healthcare access by providing financial assistance, infrastructure support, and collaborative solutions to underserved communities. The initiative’s core objectives include uplifting vulnerable and marginalized rural communities in Central Texas through capacity building and community empowerment.
The Rural Community Health Fund embodies Fayette Community Foundation’s commitment to fostering healthier communities through innovative approaches and collaborative partnerships. In its inaugural grant cycle, RCHF awarded $250,000 to 19 organizations, each focusing on initiatives that address health disparities and improve access to essential services. FCF is excited to expand its reach and impact throughout its Central Texas service area, continuing to build on this momentum and further advance health equity in rural communities.
The inaugural celebratory reception provided a unique networking opportunity, allowing organizations to connect and discuss how they can bridge gaps and work together to create a larger, collective impact in their communities. These organizations, ranging from grassroots initiatives to more established nonprofits, are all dedicated to improving health, economic opportunity, and social resilience in rural and underserved areas across Central Texas.
The afternoon’s atmosphere was elevated by delicious catering provided by Walton’s Fancy and Staple, a renowned Austin institution, ensuring attendees enjoyed exceptional food while exchanging ideas and building relationships. Jose Rivera, a talented photographer, beautifully captured the essence of the event, memorializing the start of what promises to be long-lasting partnerships between these impactful organizations.
The event not only celebrated the first cycle of awards but also set the stage for future collaboration among nonprofit leaders committed to community health, equity, and sustainability.
