The Round Top-Warrenton Volunteer Fire Dept. has launched their annual fundraiser. The fundraiser this year will consist of obtaining community support through raffle sales and free will donations. The funding received allows the fire department to continue to serve our community.

Donations can be mailed to: Round Top-Warrenton V.F.D., P.O. Box 194, Round Top, 78954 or dropped off at the Round Top State Bank. Firemen’s Raffle Tickets can be purchased at Round Top State Bank locations, Round Top Mercantile, Round Top Real Estate, Round Top Service Station, Carmine State Bank, The Cabin by Wimberley in Henkel Square, Fayetteville Propane, or any fire department member.

Only 1,500 tickets will be offered. Tickets are $20 each. The drawing will take place on June 25, 2026. Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards the purchase of equipment, insurance premiums, equipment and facilities maintenance, operations, and firefighter/emergency care training.

Round Top Plein Air Festival Round Top residents will be noticing artists outside in the community this weekend using foldable French easels and painting in varied locations. This is because a Plein Air Festival will be held in and around Round Top through April 28. Plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air,” referring to the act of painting outdoors. Studio Texas is the Round Top-based nonprofit arts community which has organized the event. Tickets, registration, and information are available at studiotexas. org/full-calendar.

Round Top Travel

Several residents of Round Top and surrounding communities, including myself, recently went on a very special patriotic trip celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. The trip, led by Round Top Travel Club, took place April 6-14, and began in Boston, Lexington, and Concord, Massachusetts, seeing historical, battle and home sites. We crossed the North Bridge where the “shot heard ‘round the world” was fired.”

The next day was spent in Tarrytown and at West-Point Military Academy. On to historic New York, which included Broadway musicals, Time Square, Central Park and many iconic sites. From there, travel continued to Philadelphia, the birthplace of America, where we visited the Museum of the American Revolution, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and enjoyed a special dinner aboard the legendary Moshulu, the world’s oldest and largest square-rigged sailing vessel still afloat.

After taking in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Washington Monument, we toured Valley Forge National Park and then arrived in Washington D.C. In our nations’ beautiful capital, we visited Lincoln and Washington Monuments, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the Korean War Memorial, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, just to name a few.

Arlington National Cemetery was a group favorite, along with witnessing the very solemn changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The trip wrapped up with tours of the U.S. Capitol Building and Mount Vernon, the beloved home of George and Martha Washington. The trip included the seven states of Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and the District of Columbia.
