Happy almost Thanksgiving. Don’t forget to register for Round Top Lion’s Club Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot coming up next week Thursday. The first run starts at 8 a.m. This is a great, healthy way to start the big day and kick-off the holiday season. More information can be found at atheleteguild.com. Round Top-Carmine ISD Students are out for Thanksgiving Break. Things will be fast and furious when they return on Monday, Dec. 2. First things first – a band concert will be held at Festival Hill that first Monday back, Dec. 2, beginning at 6 p.m.
Students will have an early release on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Busses will run at 12:30 p.m. There will be no school until Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Round Top Events
Dec. 4-8 is the Round Top En Plein Air Invitational and Art Experience. Experience legendary Round Top in painted glory as nine artists compete in four days of competition, demonstrations and studio tours. The first ChristkindlMarket at The Compound will be Dec. 6-8. There will be unique gifts, holiday décor, seasonal food and drink, Christmas music and more. This event benefits the Round Top-Carmine Schools. If you would like to be a vendor contact roundtopcompound@ gmail.com.
Round Top’s Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 7. Shopping begins at 10 a.m. around town. Activities on the Square begin at 3 p.m., and the parade starts at 6:45 p.m. Special thanks to “The Do Your Duty Club,” The Round Top Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Round Top Family Library for organizing the parade. Winedale
This year’s Quiilt Exhibit is titled “An Intimate Bond: Clothing and Quilitng in the Winedale Quilt Collection.” The pieces in this exhibition showcase the quilter as inventive recycler, chronicler of important milestones or the passage of time, and designer of garments inspired by and incorporating quilting techniques. The exhibit is open Friday, Dec. 6, through Sunday, Dec. 8, and Friday, Dec. 13, through Sunday, Dec. 15. The exhibit hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, noon-4 p.m.
Christmas at Winedale will be on Dec. 15. Enjoy a 19th century event featuring crafts and folklife demonstrations, a quilt exhibit, musical performances, hay rides, food and beverages and more. This event is free. Winedale is located at 3760 FM 2714 in Round Top.
Round Top Family Library The monthly Senior Citizen Gaming Party will take place Sunday, Nov. 24 from 2-4 p.m. Come enjoy fellowship and light refreshments. Bring your family and friends.
Saturday, Dec. 7, come enjoy Christmas at the Library. Take pictures with Santa, enjoy a Christmas ornament craft table, and don’t miss the cinnamon bun and hot cocoa bar. Kelsi Machacek will perform music throughout the event. The fun starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 12 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 8, the library is hosting “A Christmas Memory” by Truman Capote. Sally Reynolds will share this unforgettable and cherished Christmas Story beginning at 2 p.m. Refreshments served.
These events are free and open to the public.
Round Top Rifle Hall
Don’t forget about RTRH Monday night social on the first, second and third Mondays of each month at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association.
Festival Hill
The next community Gardens and Grounds Volunteer Day at Festival Hill will be Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m.-noon. Please register at festivalhill.org.
Also on Nov. 23 as part of the August to April Series, Tango with Jesús Castro-Balbi and Daniel Binelli. This new collection of concert tango music for cello and bandoneon will showcase the virtuosity and cultural significance of tango. Pre-concert lunch is available for orders placed no later than Nov. 20.
The legendary ballet, “The Nutcracker” will be at Festival Hill on Saturday, Dec. 14. This year’s production celebrates the 15th annual performance danced by Ovation Ballet Company.
