Retired Teachers Meet, Officers Announced

The Fayette County chapter of the Texas Retired Teacher Association met Jan. 13 at New Life Methodist Church in La Grange with 23 members in attendance.

Guest speaker was TRTA State President Ella Gauthier, who spoke to members on eliminating stress from everyday life. Members in attendance were presented with a bubble wand, since blowing bubbles reroutes breathing and eliminates stress. Other suggestions included working with dough and clay, board games, dancing and music.

The business meeting included a discussion of the repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision, and all members were encouraged to write their congress person and senators to thank them. Plans for the upcoming Day at the Capitol on March 26 were discussed, and members were encouraged to register soon. The treasurer’s report was presented by Chris Morrison, who noted that Schulenburg Printing donated half of the cost of the 2024-2025 FCTRTA member directory.

Members present then prepared “goodie baskets” for all Fayette County schools to celebrate Teacher Appreciation week. Baskets were delivered Jan. 14 to celebrate our hard working educators in Fayette County.
