The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association (FCRTA) donated 200 books to the Parents As Teachers of Rural South Central Texas (PATRSCTX). The PATRSCTX mission is to teach parents how to interact with their children from pre-natal to 5 years old, preparing the children for a successful educational experience.

The Children’s Book Project is part of Texas Retired Teachers Association’s efforts to encourage a love of reading among Texas’ children across the state. Monies are collected throughout the year, and appropriate books are purchased. This year PATRSCTX was our chosen recipient. On April 30, the donated books were presented to Kristi Mc-Bride, Executive Director of PATRSCTX as well as other PATRSCTX members by Peggy Halamicek, Co-President of FCRTA and Marian Tajchman, Chair of FCRTA Children’s Book Project at the PATRSCTX building in Weimar.
