Recycling Center Processed 1.4 Million Lbs. in 2024

We have achieved another outstanding year within the Fayette County Recycling Program by recycling over 1.4 million pounds in plastic, newspaper, magazines, cardboard and aluminum. In addition to that, we have recycled approximately 325 tons of glass, 14,379 pounds of electronics and 20 tons of scrap metal with an estimated 300 tons on site to be processed in 2025. In 2024, through a Keep Texas Beautiful grant made possible by H-E-B, we added a dedicated #1 PET plastic’s baler at our Schulenburg site. Our plastics program has seen significant efficiency gains as a result of this dedicated PET baler. Thanks HE- B, KTB and Keep Texas Recycling.

If you will remember, the Fayette County Recycling program was awarded a $30,000 grant for an expansion project at the Fayetteville site. This CAPCOG grant project is to be completed in the early spring of 2025 and will consist of adding a 20’ x 30’ pole barn to house a cardboard baler. This will help us process the cardboard onsite and help meet the growth in that area of the county.
