Memorial Day
The public is welcome to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 26, beginning at 10 a.m. at 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange. Our courageous troops who risked their lives for our freedom will be honored by continuing the Memorial Day tradition of retirement of the colors represented by the Marine Corps League No. 1028, VFW Post No. 5254, Vietnam Veterans Association No. 870, American Legion Posts No. 102-La Grange, No. 338-Round Top, and No. 602-Shelby and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Rev. Father Steve Sauser will be the guest speaker. A barbeque lunch will be served by Peters’s BBQ. Join in honoring our troops on this day. We will never forget the sacrifices made by these brave men and women.
CDA No. 1962 Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange on Monday, May 26. The annual May Social will begin at 6 p.m. with a light meal to be served. The business meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Donations will be collected for AMEN Food Pantry. Members are invited to attend. New members are always welcome.
Quilt Guild Meeting and Workshop
Colorado Valley Quilt Guild’s annual meeting/workshop for the Charity Quilts has arrived and is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27. Guild meeting held at 10 a.m. and workshop immediately proceeding. Lunch provided. Feel free to bring a sewing machine to help piece some beautiful springtime quilt tops. If not, bring yourself as pressers, cutters and organizers are always needed. All the quilt top fabrics have been donated, feel free to come and see what making one of the charity lap quilts is all about. The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl Street, Room A East, La Grange. Guild meetings begin at 6 p.m. on even months and 10 a.m. on odd months. Meetings are always open to the public, so grab a friend and come learn more about this wonderful service organization in La Grange. Flea Market and Car Wash
A flea market and car wash sponsored by St. James Missionary Baptist Church and Bert and Bill’s Taxi will take place Saturday, May 31, under the Wolters Park Pavilion in Schulenburg. Reserve a table for $25. Get your car washed for only $5 (extra charge for interior cleaning). Enjoy a delicious half-chicken dinner for $13 per plate. Snowcones will be served.
