Republican Women
The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women General Meeting on Wednesday, May 21 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange. Lunch is available for $20. The program will feature two candidates: Mr. Don Huffines, running for Texas State Comptroller, and a surprise candidate that will declare his candidacy at the meeting. Senior Game Day
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, May 22 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day will be held every second and fourth Thursday of each month. For more information, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.
Buddy Poppies
The Memorial Day Buddy Poppy drive in the La Grange area by the VFW Auxiliary No. 5254 will be Friday and Saturday, May 23 and May 24. Your donations will benefit Veterans assistance programs. Wear your Poppy with pride and remember the sacrifices service members have made for our freedom.

Security and Self Defense Seminar
The Round Top Family Library will sponsor a Security and Self Defense seminar on Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. David McCall will be the instructor for this seminar which includes home security, travel precautions and hand-to-hand defense. The self-defense techniques are designed for women, but are effective for anyone. This seminar is highly recommended for students heading to college. Participants must be 16 or older. Shelby VFD Fundraiser
The Shelby Volunteer Fire Department will host its 67th annual Fundraiser on Sunday, May 25 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby. A barbecue pork and sausage meal including German potatoes, green beans and barbecue sauce will be served for $15 per plate. This will be a dine-in cafeteria style meal and to go plates beginning at 11 a.m. Barbecue by the pound will be availalbe for $15/lb. Enjoy a free dance by the Blue Denim Band immediately after the auction. Live auction begins at 1 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available. Your generous donations will help support the construction of a new addition and renovation to the fire station to protect and serve our neighbors and community.
Memorial Day Ceremony
The public is welcome to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 26, beginning at 10 a.m. at 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange. Our courageous troops who risked their lives for our freedom will be honored by continuing the Memorial Day tradition of retirement of the colors represented by the Marine Corps League No. 1028, VFW Post No. 5254, Vietnam Veterans Association No. 870, American Legion Posts No. 102-La Grange, No. 338-Round Top, and No. 602-Shelby and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Rev. Father Steve Sauser will be the guest speaker. A barbeque lunch will be served by Peters’s BBQ. Join in honoring our troops on this day. We will never forget the sacrifices made by these brave men and women.

LHS Class of 1970 Reunion

Grief Support Groups
The Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support group will be held monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 10-11 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange. Loss of a Spouse Support Group will be held monthly on the third Tuesday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office. Loss of a Child support group will be held monthly on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office.
