Guild Bake Sale
The Mt. Calvary Mary Martha Guild will host its annual Mother’s Day Bake Sale in front of National Bank and Trust on the courthouse square on Friday, May 9 beginning at 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. or until sold out. Baked goods available will include cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and other home baked items. Free will donations. Funds raised will be used by the Guild to support various local outreach projects.
BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, May 10, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Praise & Worship
Bethlehem AME Church will have Minister Leo Vaughns Jr. from Fort Worth, Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. The church is located at 5218 FM 3233 in La Grange.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Puzzle Swap
The Round Top Family Library will have a puzzle swap on Saturday, May 10 at the library located at 206 W. Mill Street in Round Top. The swap is 10-11 a.m. This is free and open to the public. Bring your puzzles in taped boxes or bags to prevent missing pieces. If any pieces are missing, please note it on the box. If there are three or more pieces missing kindly recycle.
Mother’s Day Praise & Worship Service
BethlehemAME Church will have a Mother’s Day Service at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 11. The message will be by Dr. Raymond Bryant. The church is located at 5218 FM 3233 in La Grange.
Country Music in Giddings
Country music live Monday, May 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Lee County Senior Center located at 161 W. Austin St. in Giddings. Free admission. Doors open at 5 p.m. Performance by Rusty Spacek and Rebecca Spacek Hooks. A free will donation will be accepted for the musicians.
Retired Teachers Meeting
The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will meet Monday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Robert’s Steakhouse, 1241 SH95, in Flatonia. TRTA District 13 President Joe Ramirez will be in attendance to install new officers. AMBA representative Christina Heinrich will be present to meet with members and answer questions. All current and newly retired school district personnel are invited to attend to enjoy food and fellowship.
Carmine Lions Club Guest Speaker The Carmine Lions Club will have a guest speaker Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Windmill Ranch Lodge located at 1403 West Hwy. 290 in Carmine. All are invited. Hostyn KJT BBQ Pork Steak Dinner The Hostyn KJT Society No. 3 will hold their annual drivethru fundraiser on Wednesday, May 14, from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange KC Community Center. The barbecue pork steak dinner will include buttered noodles, vegetable blend, and a peach half for $15 a plate. A bake sale will also be held in conjunction to benefit CREW, the Youth of the Hostyn and Plum parishes, with matching funds provided by the KJT Home Office. American Legion Post, Auxiliary No. 102 The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Post agenda includes election for officer positions, anticipating maximum participation. Included on the Auxiliary agenda is the presentation of local scholarships and election of officers for the 2025-2026 term. Members are encouraged to attend to show their support, and new members are always invited to attend. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.

Miracle Temple Church located at 1108 E. Fannin in La Grange will have a free movie on Saturday, May 17. Doors open at 2 p.m. and movie starts at 3 p.m. Refreshments are available for purchase.
A John Williams Celebration Concert The Festival Concert Hall in Round Top will host a concert celebration, Saturday, May 17, at 3 p.m. presented by the Austin Symphonic Band, Mansfield Wind Symphony, and Sugar Land Winds. Join the Austin Symphonic Band, the Sugar Land Winds and the Mansfield Wind Symphony for a joint concert at Round Top’s Festival Hall. The guest conductor will be Jerry Junkin, Director of Bands at the University of Texas.
Mobile Food Truck in Waldeck
The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 17 from 10-11 a.m. This event is drive through only.
Bingo In Ledbetter
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, May 18 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks will be available for a free-will donation.
Historic Cemetery Celebration
The Cesko Narodni Hrbitov Cemetery in Ellinger was established c. 1884. In 2000, the cemetery was designated a Historic Texas Cemetery and this year, on May 18, at 2 p.m. the 25th anniversary of this designation will be commemorated. The board that oversees the maintenance and preservation of this historic cemetery invites the community to come out to the cemetery for this celebration. The Cesko Narodni Hrbitov (a.k.a. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings

Beekeepers Association Meeting
The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will meet on the first Saturday of every month at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 Honey Bee Biology presentation from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow, please bring your favorite entrée, side or dessert to share. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation it is also a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2024 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join.
