Second Chance

In order for Second Chance Emporium staff to catch up on the processing of donations, Second Chance will not be accepting donations April 7-21. The donations drop-off area will re-open on Tuesday, April 22.

Fish Fry/Bake Sale

The Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund Fish Fry and Bake Sale will be held Friday, April 11. This will be the last fish fry of the Lenten Season at La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall. Drive-thru only from 4-6 p.m. The meal will consist of fried fish, buttered potatoes, pinto beans, coleslaw and hush puppies. Plates are $15. Advanced tickets available at the KJT or Hostyn Church Offices or by calling (979) 966-3597. Limited tickets available at the drive-thru. All funds benefit the Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund.

Church Yard Sale

The Miracle Temple Church 1008 E. Fannin will have a yard sale on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12. Begins at 8 a.m.

Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Fayetteville Community Egg Hunt, barbecue and bake sale will be held Saturday, April 12 beginning at 10 a.m. on the Fayetteville Square. Don’t forget your basket. Egg hunt, bounce house and hotdogs are free to all. Baked items and drinks will available for purchase.

Ageless Artistry

Senior Connections in Schulenburg, invites the community to an art show titled “Ageless Artistry: A Showcase of Senior Connections Creativity.” The event will occur in Jack’s Gallery at 1203 Kessler Ave. in Schulenburg (just south of the KC Hall). Join from 3-5 p.m. on April 12 to enjoy artwork from over 20 senior citizens and members of the organization.

Wildlife Management Spring Meeting

The North Central Fayette County Wildlife Management Coop is having their Annual Spring Meeting on Saturday, April 12 at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Social begins at 4 p.m. and the meeting starts at 5 p.m. with a meal to follow. There will be multiple speakers giving informative programs, door prizes and a bucket raffle. Lee County Seniors in Action

Music Monday night returns Monday, April 14 at the Lee County Senior Citizens Center located at 161 W. Austin St. in Giddings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music begins at 6 p.m. This month features Geno Gottschall an Austin native. Refreshments are provided. Free will donations go directly to the musician.

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, April 12, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of St. James Preschool.

Bingo In Ledbetter

Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, April 13 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks available for a freewill donation.

Spring Cleanup Days

The City of La Grange has Spring Cleanup Days in April. The City will pick up one free load of brush during these days. One load of brush is defined as not more than one pickup truck load. If you have logs, separate them from the branches. Also, make sure there is no trash, no piles of leaves, no lumber, or construction debris mixed in with the brush. The following schedule will be observed: April 14 and 15 - south side of the city (Travis St. - Hwy. 71 Bus.) and April 21 and 22 - north side of the City. Plum Hermann Sons Life

Plum Hermann Sons Life April meeting will be held Monday, April 14 at 5 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Meal will be provided.

Farm Bureau Meeting in April

The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau local will hold their next meeting, Tuesday April 15, at the Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau hall. It will start at 6:30 p.m. A potluck meal is being planned, so each family is asked to bring a covered dish and a small dessert. All members are welcome.

VFW Post 5254, Auxiliary to Meet Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet on Tuesday, April 15, in the VFW Post Home at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The VFW Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal, after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.
