Join Christa Parker and Crystal Battarbee as they share fascinating stories of the International Quilt Festival, and details about the largest quilt festival in the world on Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m. at the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange. Learn behind the scenes insight, as well as how to volunteer or exhibit at the festival. Includes Q & A and a fun and informative walking tour of the incredible pieces on display at the Texas Quilt Museum. Free admission to the Museum begins at 2 p.m. Seating is limited. Come early to reserve your seat, register for door prizes, and enjoy the museum.
Pilot & Anchor Club
The Pilot and Anchor Club will host a drive-thru dinner on Sunday, March 23. Plate includes chicken fried chicken breast, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, and roll. Pick up will be at the Randolph Rec Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange (next to Sacred Heart Church and Center). Tickets are $14 each and can be purchased in advance at Le Petite Gourmet Shoppe, on the square in La Grange. There’s more A Hunter Education Classroom Course will be held Saturday, March 22 at the Texas AgriLife extension Office located 255 Svoboda Lane, Room 134, in La Grange. This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages nine years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of six hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. This course is offered across the state year round and taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. CDA No. 1962 Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, March 24 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend. New members are always welcome.
FWSC Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting an annual meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, March 24 at 6 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
Republican Party Meeting
The Fayette County Republican Party will hold its first quarter meeting on Monday, March 24 at the Texas A&M Agrilife Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange. Items on the agenda include RPT Priorities and Legislative Activities. Doors open at 5 p.m., meal served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. How to have a garden full of the fluttering beauties is the topic for this month’s La Grange Garden Club. Master Gardeners, John and Lenore Williamson, will share tips and secrets of enticing butterflies to your garden on Monday, March 24 at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 Pearl St. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. and Speaker at 12 noon. Light refreshments will be served, you are invited to bring lunch and visit with other local folks who share your love for the garden.
Waldeck Church Lenten Service On Wednesday, March 26, Lenten Services will be held at Waldeck Lutheran Church. There will be a meal served at 6 p.m. with Worship at 7 p.m. The meal will be catered consisting of pulled pork sandwiches, twice baked potatoes, salad and drinks. If you would like to donate towards the meal or provide a dessert, please contact a council person.
La Grange Band Booster Club Meal The La Grange Band Booster Club spring meal will be held Thursday, March 27, drive-thru only, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at La Grange High School. The meal includes beef tips, buttered noodles, squash casserole, tossed salad, roll, and a brownie prepared by Koopmann Catering. Tickets are $14 a plate. Tickets can be picked up at The Fayette County Record and ask for Theresia.
La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, March 27 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. La Grange Noon Lions Club
The La Grange Noon Lions Club will hear from guest speaker Justice of the Peace Jamie Moreau on Thursday, March 27 at noon at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club. She will talk about body farms, evictions, truancy, and the joys of being a small town Judge.
Chess Tournament
The 3rd Annual Habitat Gambit Chess Tournament benefiting Fayette County Habitat for Humanity will be on Saturday, March 29 at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street in La Grange. There will be three rounds (G15). BYO chess clock or phone with chess clock app. Primary division for ages 5-16 and senior division for ages 17 and up. This is a non-sanctioned event so no rating will be awarded. Entry fee is $10 which is payable at check-in from 9-9:15 a.m. on March 29. Pre-registration is recommended as space is limited.
