BBQ Brisket

The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Assocation Annual Fundraiser BBQ & Trade Show is being held Saturday, Feb. 15, at the La Grange KC Hall, located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal consists of barbecue brisket, beef sausage, pinto beans, buttered potatoes, and other sides. The event starts at 4 p.m. Free refreshments will be served from 4-6 p.m. Meals starts at 6 p.m. The event features cash door prizes, a raffle, silent and live auction. Meal and raffle tickets are available at the door. Open to the public. Bring a friend.

Weimar Go Texan

Dust off your boots, grab your cowboy hat and bring your best Texan Spirit to greet the HCSO Jr. Posse’s Pony Express riding into Weimar. Vendors, a petting zoo and more. Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. Awards will be given to the most Texan Cowboy and Cowgirl so bring all your western spirit.

Mobile Food Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10-11 a.m. Drive through only. Volunteers are always welcome.

There’s more St. Cecilia’s-Round Top is thrilled to present a special Valentine’s Day program, “Heart Song”, with Babette Fraser Hale on Friday, Feb. 14 at 5:45 p.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square. Babette is a columnist for the Fayette County Record, an award winning author and a long-time resident of the Fayette-Washington County area. She will share stories from her new and acclaimed book This Familiar Heart: An Improbable Love Story. Leon Hale and Babette Fraser were the unlikeliest of couples. He was 60, a “country boy” who wrote about ordinary people with humor and sensitivity. She was 36, a one-time socialite struggling in her career while raising a young son. No one thought it could work. This Familiar Heart is an intimate portrait, told with clarity, honesty and race, of the deep personal connection that transformed their turbulent courtship into a happy marriage. Musical accompaniment for this evening celebrating the power of love to transform us will be provided by Stephen Mansolo. The event and the reception that follows are free and open to the public. Pianist Miles Gillette Recital

First Presbyterian Church, located at 205 S. Franklin St. in La Grange, will welcome pianist Miles Gillette on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. Miles, a student at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, will be performing his open dress rehearsal as part of the preparation for his upcoming Master’s recital. Works of Ravel, Haydn, and Schumann are planned. Plan to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to hear beautiful classical music. Medicaid Information Session Feb. 17

A Medicaid attorney will be coming to speak to the Fayette County community about the Medicaid process and educate them on the ins and outs. This informative session is presented by Care Inn of La Grange at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl in La Grange, on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required due to limited seating. Chicken Fried Steak Dinner Drive-Thru 

The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282, will hold a drive-thru fundraiser at the KC Hall in La Grange on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 4-6 p.m. The meal will consist of chicken fried steak, buttered noodles, mixed vegetable blend, and white gravy (on the side) for $14 a plate. VFW Post No. 5254, Auxiliary to Meet 

On Tuesday, Feb. 18, Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m.; and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.

Farm Bureau Meeting

The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau local will hold their next meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau hall. It will start at 6:30 p.m. A potluck meal is being planned, so each family is asked to bring a covered dish and a small dessert. All members are welcome.

Republican Women General Meeting 

The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women General Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive, in La Grange. Lunch is available for $20. Guest speaker will be Ms. Bonnie Wallace, a conservative activist that has made it her life’s goal to get inappropriate sexual content out of public schools and public libraries. Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
