Dinner & A Movie

The Casino Arts Association is hosting Dinner and a Movie on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Historic Casino Hall. The Villain, a western comedy, starring Kirk Douglas, Ann-Margaret and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the movie shown. The tickets are $20 per person which includes cost of the movie and a delicious meal of King Ranch casserole, salad, chips, and dessert. Church Recognition

A dedication ceremony to commemorate the Texas Historical Recognition for the Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church in Schulenburg will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 309 Wolters Avenue in Schulenburg. Speakers for the afternoon will include Reverend Dr. Marcus A.L. Freeman, district superintendent of crossroads district, Schulenburg Mayor Connie Koopmann, Texas Historical Commission, and previous Pastors. The Fayette County Historical Commission welcomes the public to share in and witness this exciting historical event.

There’s more The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the St. James Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity.

Haw Creek Cemetery Meeting

Ledbetter Bingo for Seniors

Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) at the Ledbetter Community Center will be held Sunday, Feb. 9 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks will be available for a freewill donation.

Shelby Cemetery Meeting

The annual Shelby Cemetery meeting will be held on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Shelby Fire Department on FM 389. Anyone with relatives buried or has a plot is invited to attend.

Retired Teachers Association Meeting The Fayette County Chapter of the Texas Retired Teachers Association will meet Monday, Feb. 10 at the New Life Methodist Church located at 1215 Von Minden Road in La Grange. Members will plan for the upcoming TRTA Day at the Capitol March 26. All retired teachers and school personnel are welcome to attend.

Chamber Mixer

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Valentine’s Mixer at Jay Dee’z Sports Grill on Tuesday, Feb. 11 from 5-7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy appetizers, door prizes, a complimentary glass of champagne, and networking with fellow business owners and chamber members. American Legion Post, Auxiliary Meeting TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. Members are encouraged to attend. New members for both the Post and the Unit are always welcome to come and find out the various ways we can work together to best assist our Veterans in the area. A light meal will be served, followed by the regular business meeting.

La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Sages and Saints Pajama Party

The Sages and Saints will have a pajama party Thursday, Feb. 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at New Life Methodist Church fellowship hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange. Wear something comfortable, pajamas, sweat suits or robes and slippers. Dinner will be a breakfast with pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. Have breakfast and games to follow.

Library Twilight Watch & Make Party Join the Fayette Public Library for a Twilight Watch and Make Party on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 4:30-7 p.m. Join to watch the first Twilight movie and make delicious Valentine’s Day chocolates. The library will provide chocolate, decorative boxes, and all other materials. Twilight-themed snacks and drinks will also be provided. CVICA Barbecue & Trade Show

The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas annual barbecue and trade show fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Chicken Fried Steak Dinner Drive-Thru The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282, will hold a drive-thru fundraiser at the KC Hall in La Grange on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 4-6 p.m. The meal will consist of chicken fried steak, buttered noodles, mixed vegetable blend, and white gravy (on the side) for $14 a plate. Czech Heritage Society Scholarships The Czech Heritage Society of Texas (CHS) will award two scholarships in 2025, the Victor Peter Memorial Scholarship and the Albert J. Blaha Memorial Scholarship. Graduating Texas high school seniors in 2025 are eligible. Applicants need not be members of CHS. The Albert J. Blaha Memorial Scholarship is also open to first-year college students with less than 30 credit hours. The Victor Peter Memorial Scholarship is a $500 award and the Albert J. Blaha Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 award. All items required for applying must be submitted and postmarked by
