Museum Meeting
The Muldoon Museum activities will be discussed for the first meeting of the new year on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. in the museum building.
Hermann Sons
Rutersville Hermann Sons will meet Wednesday, Feb. 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meal will be chicken fried steak and sides.
Pancake Supper
The Rotary Club pancake supper is Thursday, Feb. 6 at La Grange Elementary Cafeteria. Dine in at school 5-7 p.m. or drive thru 5-6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each drive thru entrance at the corner of Travis and Jackson.
Cemetery Meeting

There’s more The Casino Arts Association is hosting Dinner and a Movie on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Historic Casino Hall. The Villain, a western comedy, starring Kirk Douglas, Ann-Margaret and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the movie shown. The tickets are $20 per person which includes cost of the movie and a delicious meal of King Ranch casserole, salad, chips, and dessert. Stevens Chapel Church Recognition
A dedication ceremony to commemorate the Texas Historical Recognition for the Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church in Schulenburg will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 309 Wolters Avenue in Schulenburg. Speakers for the afternoon will include Reverend Dr. Marcus A.L. Freeman, district superintendent of crossroads district, Schulenburg Mayor Connie Koopmann, Texas Historical Commission, and previous Pastors. The Fayette County Historical Commission welcomes the public to share in and witness this exciting historical event.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the St. James Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity.
Ledbetter Bingo for Seniors
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) at the Ledbetter Community Center will be held Sunday, Feb. 9 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks will be available for a freewill donation.
Shelby Cemetery Meeting
The annual Shelby Cemetery meeting will be held on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Shelby Fire Department on FM 389. Anyone with relatives buried or has a plot is invited to attend.
Library Twilight Watch & Make Party Join the Fayette Public Library for a Twilight Watch and Make Party on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 4:30-7 p.m. Join to watch the first Twilight movie and make delicious Valentine’s Day chocolates. The library will provide chocolate, decorative boxes, and all other materials. Twilight-themed snacks and drinks will also be provided. Registration is required for this event and is open to ages 13 and up. There are 20 available spots, so reserve yours today. The Twilight movie is rated PG-13. Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? BBQ Brisket Dinner
The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association Annual Fundraiser BBQ & Trade Show is being held Saturday, Feb. 15, at the La Grange KC Hall, located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal consists of barbecue brisket, beef sausage, pinto beans, buttered potatoes, and other sides. The event starts at 4 p.m. Free refreshments will be served from 4-6 p.m. Meal starts at 6 p.m. The event features cash door prizes, a raffle, silent and live auction. Meal and raffle tickets are available at the door. Open to the public. Bring a friend.
Grief Support Groups Begin in February The Grief Support Groups at Hospice Brazos Valley will resume in February. Alzheimer’s/Dementia support group will be held monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 10-11 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N Jefferson, La Grange. Loss of a Spouse support group will be held monthly on the third Tuesday of every month at 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office. Loss of a Child support group will be held monthly on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office. Scholarship Applicants For Texas A&M Seniors of Fayette County high schools and past graduates of the county’s schools, who are currently enrolled in a junior college or other institution of higher learning, and planning to attend Texas A&M University, are strongly encouraged to apply for the Fayette County Texas A&M Scholarship. The scholarship requires an applicant to be a resident of Fayette County, have attended high school in Fayette County, have made application to Texas A&M, and be a full time student. Applications for the scholarship can be obtained in the high school counselor’s office. Applications must be completed and turned into their counselor or mailed no later than March 1 .
