Methodist Men at Antique Show

The Methodist Men of New Life Methodist Church, La Grange, will once again be serving their great barbecue plates, sandwiches, wraps, salads, baked potatoes, and peach cobbler at the Blue Hills Antique Show in Round Top Oct. 5-19 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. New Life Methodist Sages & Saints Bingo

New Life Methodist Church will host Sages & Saints Bingo on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange. Bring your favorite dish or dessert for potluck.

Fall Cleanup Days The City of La Grange has designated Oct. 10-17 as Fall Cleanup Days. The city will pick up one free load of brush during these days. One load of brush is defined as not more than one pickup truck load. If you have logs, please separate them from the branches. Also, please make sure there is no trash, no piles of leaves, no lumber, or construction debris mixed in with the brush. The following schedule will be observed: Oct. 10 and 11

Texas Cotton Gin

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link si $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Meals on Wheels.

LHS Class of 1969 Reunion

The 69th annual Wessels reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse beginning at 10 a.m. Meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. followed by a business meeting and raffle drawing.

Plum Hermann Sons Life October meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd., West Point. Meal will be provided.

Columbus Day Garbage Schedule La Grange city offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14 for the Columbus Day Holiday. The week of Oct. 14-18 is garbage and recycle week. Hogwarts at Fayette Public Library The Fayette Public Library is pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts. Mark your calendars. Come join the library on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 4-6 p.m. for a magical afternoon as the library transports you to the fun magical world of Harry Potter. Receive a wand, taste butterbeer, walk through Platform 9¾, attend classes at Hogwarts, learn to play Quidditch, and more. This is a family-friendly event, and it is free and open to the community. VFW Post 5254, Auxiliary to Meet On Tuesday, Oct. 15, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.

The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or container.
