CDA Meeting

A non-profit Christian book club for women is sponsoring a new program for girls in 5th and 6th grade. The program starts Monday, Sept. 23 and runs through Dec. 2 on Mondays from 4-5 p.m. at New Life Methodist Church located at 1215 N. Von Minden. The cost for the fall session is $10. This includes snacks, activities, books an all materials. Applications can be picked up at the church or emailed to parents by request by calling (713) 962-8452. Girls will have a book to read and discuss each week in small groups. Groups are limited to 12 girls per grade level.

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange & Plum will be meeting on Monday, Sept. 23 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Fr. Chris Smith will be the speaker. Members are encouraged to attend. New members are always welcome.

Winedale Talk

On Tuesday, Sept. 24 at noon, author and historian James Bailey Blackshear will discuss via zoom his book Confederates and Comancheros. Focusing on the Texas-New Mexico borderlands in the 1860s and 1870s, his talk will illustrate how central these contested borderlands were to the history of the American West. There’s more Round Top Hermann Sons Life will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Social time at 6 p.m. and meeting follows at 6:30 p.m. Election of officers will be held. Please bring sandwiches, cold cuts, chips, desserts, etc. for the meal following the meeting. Items may be brought to the meeting to sell in the Country Store to benefit the Ledbetter volunteer fire department.

Rutersville Hermann Sons

Rutersville Hermann Sons Lodge will have their Game Night on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring snacks or finger foods. Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. is the meeting night and fajitas will be served and members are asked to bring a side or dessert.

La Grange Garden Club Meeting

La Grange Garden Club embarks on a fun, learning and growing year. On Thursday, Sept. 26 at the new time of 11:30 a.m. members and visitors will begin the Club’s new year. Randolf Recreation Center is where the learning to grow bigger better veggies, trees, grass and flower gardens takes place. Bring your lunch (cold drinks will be provided), kick this new year off and meet other gardening lovers. La Grange Garden Club meets every fourth Thursday, September through May.

LHS Junior Class Dinner Fundraiser

The La Grange High School Junior Class will have a dinner fundraiser Friday, Sept. 27 at the La Grange High School Cafeteria from 4:30-6 p.m. Tickets are $14, drive-thru only. The meal includes chicken fried steak, twice-baked potatoes, green beans, corn, roll, and peach cobbler, catered by Koopmann Catering. A free-will donation bake sale will also be held in conjunction with the dinner. Wildlife Management Meeting

The North Central Fayette County Wildlife Management Co-op is having their Annual Fall Meeting on Sept. 28 at Camp Kubena (formerly Cooper Farms). Social begins at 4 p.m. and the meeting starts at 5 p.m. with a meal to follow. There will be multiple speakers giving informative programs, door prizes, live auction and a bucket raffle. Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament The Fayetteville 4-H and FFA Show Fund will be hosting a Texas Hold’m Poker Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Heh Remember When in Fayetteville. La Grange KC BBQ Sunday

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will hold its monthly BBQ Sunday on Sept. 29 from 10:30 a.m. - noon. Barbecue chicken and sausage will be available to-go, drive-thru only, at the Knights of Columbus Community Center located at 190 Brown St. in La Grange. A slab of pork ribs will be $20, chicken $10, and sausage $7. Orders are guaranteed on call-ins by calling (979) 968-5117.

La Grange KC Turkey & Dressing Supper The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will hold its annual turkey and dressing supper on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Knights of Columbus Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The drive-thru only meal will consist of turkey and homemade dressing, noodles, broccoli with cheese sauce, cranberry sauce and a roll for $15 per plate. Enter on Water St. to Milam and exit will be on Brown St. Pick up will be held from 4-6 p.m. Call (979) 968-5117 in advance for orders over 10 plates.
