Fair Parade
The 2024 Fayette County Fair Parade is Saturday, Aug. 31 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in downtown La Grange. The parade will start on Jackson St. near H-E-B, turn left onto Colorado St. and go towards the courthouse square, disbanding near Kruschel Park.
Food Pantry
Thursday admission and parking to the fair are free. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday children ages 5-15 are free before 6 p.m. Children up to age 4 are free every day.
The AMEN Food Pantry will be closed Monday, Sept. 2 and open on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for distribution.
Garbage Schedule
La Grange City offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2 for the Labor Day Holiday. The week of Sept. 2-6 is garbage and recycle week. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule. For more information, call (979) 968-3127.
All Sports Booster
La Grange All Sports Booster Club will hold their September meeting Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the La Grange High School library.
Hermann Sons Life
Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. Members are asked to bring a potluck meal and a dessert.
KC Fish Fry
The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 Memorial Scholarship fish fry fundraiser will be held Thursday, Sept. 5. The meal will consist of fried fish, cole slaw, pinto beans, buttered potatoes and hush puppies. Serving will be drivethru only from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. Cost of the meal is $14. Plates will be available at the drive-thru. For advanced tickets, call (979) 968-5117.
Muldoon Museum
Muldoon Museum Business Meeting is Wed. Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Museum Building. The Muldoon Museum Building will be open Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

For the Record on Page A2 & C4 Hospice Brazos Valley is offering a Caregivers Support group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange. American Legion Quade-Werchan
The next regular meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5. The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top. The remaining meetings for 2024 are as follows: Oct. 3, this meeting held in conjunction with the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Night Out; Nov. 7, Dec. 5: holiday celebration and dinner. All post and auxiliary members are requested to attend their respective meetings.
Beekeepers Association Meeting
The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 “Winter Preparation Starts Now” session from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Following the session, we will have a potluck dinner, so please bring your favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. After the potluck, we will hold a business meeting and host our 2024 Honey Harvest Contest. All attendees are welcome to participate; simply bring an 8 oz. jar from your 2024 honey harvest. This event is a wonderful opportunity for new beekeepers to connect with experienced club members who can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2024 are $25 per year, whether individual or family. While membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join. FaycoBeeks meets on the first Saturday of every month. FCCT Open Auditions
Fayette County Community Theatre will hold open auditions for the play The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance by Jethro Compton, Sunday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, La Grange. Performances will be Nov. 8-10. Characters are six males, one female. Details and audition readings are on the Fayette County Community Theatre website at faycotheatre.com.
Library Adult Crafternoon
Adult Crafternoon is starting again in September at the Fayette Public Library. Get your home ready for the fall season with a DIYpainted welcome rug. Enjoy a relaxing cup of tea or a delicious cup of coffee on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 5-6 p.m. Rugs, paint, stencils, and all other materials will be provided. This is a registration-only program, and there are 10 spots available. All library programs are free and open to the public. Tanecka Family Reunion
The Tanecka Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Fayette County Homemakers Building at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Each family is asked to bring a meat and a side dish for a potluck lunch to be served at noon. Paper goods and drinks will be provided. Please also bring an item for the silent auction.
