Ice Cream Social
Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will host an ice cream social and volunteer informational on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17 and 18, from 12-3 p.m. Attendees can sample ice cream flavors inspired by historical recipes while learning about various ways to volunteer and help promote the history and nature of the sites to the community and beyond. There’s more New Life Methodist Church will celebrate 185 years on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. with New Soul Invaders Gospel Singers. In celebrating their 185th Anniversary and the one year anniversary under their new name of New Life Methodist Church, there will be a 10 a.m. service this Sunday at 1215 North Von Minden, La Grange. Lunch will follow. At 5 p.m. there will be an open Communion Service with a choir performance held at the old Travis St. church building located at Festival Hill. VFW Post 5254, Auxiliary to Meet
On Tuesday, Aug. 20, Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.
Attention All Fayette County Pastors The Fayette County Republican Women (FCRW) will host a book study ofAmerica in the Balance,American Dream or Woke Nightmare by Rick Scarborough and Steve Feazel. The book addresses the need for pastors to encourage Christians to vote and, especially, to vote for leaders and representatives that support Christian values. FCRW are honored to have Rick Scarborough himself lead the study. The event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Round Top Area Historical Society, 397 E. Mill Street, in Round Top, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20, payable by cash or check. The fee for those not having lunch is $10. All area pastors are invited to attend at no charge. Attendees are encouraged to read the book before attending but it is not mandatory. La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host Game Day on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Cummins Creek Wildlife Assoc. Meeting The Round Top Rifle Hall will host the Cummins Creek Wildlife Management meeting and dinner, Saturday, Aug. 24.

Fayette County Fair Senior Citizens Event The Fayette County Fair Senior Citizens event will be held Aug. 29 at the KC Hall in La Grange from 2-5 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased at Lone Star Cleaners or at Orsak’s in Fayetteville. Tickets in advance are $5 each. Tickets at the door on the day of the event will be $7 each. Advance tickets can be purchased on Aug. 22 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the fair grounds ticket booth. Fayetteville’s Annual Church Feast St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville will hold their annual picnic on Sunday, Sept. 1 at St. John’s Recreation Hall in Fayetteville. A Mass with Polka music will be held at 10 a.m. with local musicians taking part in the Mass. There will be a barbecue pork and sausage dinner served at 10:30 a.m. Plates to go at the hall and a drive thru line will also be available at 10:30 a.m. Area musicians will provide live music starting at 11 a.m. under the pavilion. Barbecue and sausage burgers will be sold beginning at 1:30 p.m. A country auction including quilts, antiques, coins, etc. will be held at 1:30 p.m. There will be bingo at 2 p.m. in an air conditioned hall and kolaches and other pastries will be available throughout the day. Some attractions include children’s games, silent auction, cake wheel, and ice cold refreshments.
