Isaac Hill Cemetery

The Mighty Leopard Band is headed to the Big Apple for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in March of 2025. The band is currently fundraising to send the 70+ Mighty Leopards to New York City to play their hearts out and show them what La Grange is all about. How you can help them get there? Fill up on your favorite snacks at the concession stand during the Mighty Leopard home games, purchase a drive-thru meal ticket from your from your favorite band member, send your donation to the La Grange Mighty Leopard Band Booster Club c/o Chris Cooper, Band Director, P.O. The annual meeting of the Isaac Hill Cemetery Association will be held Sunday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Round Top Courthouse.

Hermann Sons Life

Hermann Sons Life Shelby will meet on Sunday, Aug. 11 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby beginning at 5 p.m. Members are asked to bring a snack.

There’s more The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Girls’State delegate and the Boys’State delegates have been invited to attend and give a brief report to the Post and Auxiliary jointly, of their experience at their respective sessions held in June. Following their presentations, a light meal will be served. The Post and Auxiliary Unit will then continue their regular business meetings. Members are encouraged to attend, and potential new members are always welcome.

Celebrate Your Story

Prepare for a day of connecting, worshipping, and being encouraged at the Lee County Cowboy Church Teen Girls Conference on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The church is located at 2645 CR 117 in Giddings. Teen girls ages 13-18 are welcome. $10 ticket includes a light breakfast, lunch and personal prayer board craft project. Guest speakers are Connie Sanford and Sandi Dickey. Country Music Night in Giddings

Enjoy Country Music Night featuring local musicians John and Seth Kalbas on Monday, Aug. 12 at the Lee County Senior Center located at 161 W. Austin in Giddings. Music starts at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. All proceeds collected will be given to the music talent. This event is open to the public.

La Grange Show Fund Meeting La Grange Show Fund will have a meeting on Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fayette County AgriLife Extension building located at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.

Praha Picnic And Celebration

St. Mary’s Church, Praha, is celebrating its 169th Parish Picnic on Thursday, Aug. 15. The celebration begins with a Mass at 10 a.m. Beginning at 11 a.m., a meal will be served featuring famous Praha stew and fried chicken with all the trimmings. Drive thru plates-to-go will be available for business and individuals just follow the signs when you reach Praha. The following bands will be providing music throughout the day: Ennis Czech Boys, Texas Sound Czech Band and The Lost Cause Band. Fun for the day will include a country store, cake walk, plant walk, fish pond, ring toss and many other games. A raffle drawing will be held, with $16,850 worth of gift certificates and various other prizes given away.

Fayette County Fair Parade The Fayette County Fair Parade will be held Saturday, Aug. 31

in downtown La Grange. To enter, call or text Gloria Heinrich at (979) 966-8500 or email fayettecountyfairparade@gmail.com by Aug. 28. Registration is also available online at www.fayettecountyfair. org. The parade route will begin at Jackson and Colorado, go West on Colorado St. across Hwy. 77 N at the red light, and continue down Colorado St. where it will disband at the city swimming pool. The high school band and the presentation of plaques for the Volunteer of the Year and Parade Marshal will be at City Hall at 10 a.m. The National Anthem begins at 10:30 a.m. and the parade starts immediately following. You can register the morning of the parade at City Hall, 155 E. Colorado St., beginning at 7 a.m. but to be judged you must be registered and in line by 9 a.m.

Young Farmers Hay Show

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 57th annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and Thursday, Aug. 29 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m. on Aug. 29, at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion. Hay produced in Fayette County in the spring and summer of 2024 can be entered in the following classes: Class 1 - Coastal; Class 2 - Other Bermuda grasses; Class 3 - Other perennial grasses; Class 4 - Mixed grasses; Class 5 - Sorghums; Class 6 - Winter annuals (oats and ryegrass); Class 7 -Legumes and Legume grass mixture. Grand Champion Winner will receive 2000 lb. fertilizer donated by Bumper Crop Texas. They will also receive 10 bags of jumbo ryegrass, and 1 bag of safeguard wormer cubes donated by BWI. Reserve Champion Winner will receive 1000 lb. fertilizer donated by La Grange Farm and Ranch. They will also receive 5 - 50 lb. jumbo ryegrass donated by BWI. Each 1st Place Class winner will receive a 200 lb. sweetlix 20% protein tub with Clarify donated by BWI. All winners will receive a plaque donated by Ed and Jennifer Moeller. An entry fee of $10 will pay for the cost of the testing. Hay entries can be dropped off at the following locations: M-G Farm Service Center, Weimar; Farmers Co-op, Schulenburg; La Grange Farm & Ranch; Mica Soil Service, Flatonia. Fayetteville Schools Reunion

All graduates from Fayetteville High School and St. John’s School are invited to Joe’s Place (on the Fayetteville square) on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. for a social, meeting, and dinner (dining inside and outside) of chicken fried steak, grilled chicken breast, potatoes, green beans, salad, and dessert. Bar will be open to purchase drinks. Dance to music by DJ Aaron Gross from 6-10 p.m. This event is hosted by the class of 1974.Advance payment only by Sept. 12. Cost is $18/person.
