The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, July 20, 2024 as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for the hard to dispose of bulky items. Waste Management will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb Friday evening. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items from residential utility customers in the city limits. Bulk items include: stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners which have been tagged and certified as being “freon free” by a licensed technician, microwaves, water heaters, washing machines/dryers, barbecues, mattresses, chairs, recliners, couches and other furniture. Bulk items not accepted: tree limbs, tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, tile/toilets/bath tubs, mirrors/glass, cinder blocks/ bricks/rocks, construction debris, televisions/computer monitors, motor oil or used filters. The Fayetteville/Ellinger Community Blood Drive will be held this Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in front of the old fire station on the square in Fayetteville. Drop ins are welcome or contact Jonathon Noska for more information at (979) 9669569. Please make time to donate as donations are always lower in the Summer when folks are on vacation.

For the Record on Page A2 & B4 Shakespeare at Winedale’s 2024 Summer Class takes the stage this July with performances of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Othello. Performances begin July 18 and run through Aug. 11. Performances are Thursdays-Sundays at 7:30 p.m. with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be ordered online at www.shakespeare-winedale.org.
Carmine Firemen’s Fundraiser
The annual Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Firemen’s Fundraiser will be held Sunday, July 21 at Carmine Hall. The drive-thru only fried chicken dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out. Sausage links and desserts will be available. Donations will be accepted for the meal.
Republican Party Meeting
The Fayette County Republican Party will hold its organization meeting on Monday, July 22 at 6 p.m. at the Texas AgriLife Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange. The meeting will include swearing in of the County Chairman, Officers and Executive Committee Members and passing the Bylaws for the next two years. All Republicans are invited to attend. La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, July 25 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Join the Fayette County Community Theatre and over 50 area students for this summer’s student double production of “Narnia Storybook” and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Both plays are performed and staged by area students. They act, run the sounds and lights, create costumes, and build and change the set. Even the hair and makeup are student led. LG Knights of Columbus BBQ Sunday The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will be hosting their monthly drive-thru BBQ Sunday for the next few months. The next BBQ Sunday will be held Sunday, July 28 from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. BBQ chicken is $10, sausage is $7 and a slab of pork ribs is $20.
