The Lions Club will be selling items at the Old Fire Station benefiting the Fayetteville Lions Club.

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue Saturday, July 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only.This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

For the Record on Page A2 & B2 La Grange ISD Varsity football reserved season ticket holders from the 2023 season may purchase reserved tickets at the La Grange ISD Admin. Building, 560 N. Monroe, beginning July 15 through July 26, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, closed Fridays. The cost of each reserved season ticket is $50 for five home games. Hunter Education Program in Weimar The Friends of the Weimar Public Library will host a Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter Education Program on Friday, July 19. The class will be held at the Weimar Junior High Cafetorium, located at 506 W. Main St. The class is for any person born after Sept. 2, 1971 and nine years of age or older. Successful completion of the course is required for anyone who wishes to hunt in the State of Texas. The class starts at 9 a.m. and doors open at 8:30 a.m. The fee is $15, payable at the door by cash or check. Dinner & Dancing Under the Stars St. Paul Lutheran Church and Shared Lutheran Ministries present the annual Dinner & Dancing Under the Stars on Saturday, July 20 at Hermann Sons Life Hall in Rutersville, 5830 St. Hwy. 159. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. Menu includes fried chicken, sausage and trimmings with a live and silent auction. Music provided by The Back Porch Boys at 6 p.m. B.Y.O.B. and lawn chairs and members are encouraged to bring desserts for the meal. Free-will offering will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit Lutherhill Ministries.

The annual Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Firemen’s Fundraiser will be held Sunday, July 21 at Carmine Hall. The drive-thru only fried chicken dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out. Sausage links and desserts will be available. Donations will be accepted for the meal.

Shared Lutheran Ministry Day Camp

Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County Day Camp with Lutherhill Ministries will be held July 22-26 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, 5743 State Hwy. 159. The camp welcomes participants in grades K-6 (per the 2024-2025 school year), and volunteers in grade 7 and older. Registration cost is free will donation. Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Breakfast and morning snack will be provided. On-site registration will be available during day camp. Camp Lone Star Annual BBQ

Rev. Dr. Brian J. Hesse, Senior Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead (Waco), will be the featured speaker at the annual BBQ Worship Service on Sunday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at Camp Lone Star. Rev. Ryan Neuhaus, the new Chief Executive Officer of Camp Lone Star, will also be installed during the service. All persons from the area are invited to attend. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. with pre-service music performed by the summer staff, under the canopy of trees near the lake (A/C livestreamed service will be available in the Koop Center). Following the service, a traditional barbecue lunch with noodles and all the fixings will be served. For those who are on the go, drivethru barbecue plates can also be purchased for $15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. outside Rejoice Hall. Afterwards, from 1-3 p.m., both live and silent auctions will take place indoors at the Koop Center. The barbecue and auction fundraiser is one of the main events supporting Camp Lone Star each year. In 2023, more than $107,000 was raised, thanks to dedicated friends and the local community. This year, the goal is to raise $110,000, which will allow Camp Lone Star to continue fulfilling a mission of transforming lives through adventurous Christ-centered experiences.

Vacation Bible School

New Life Methodist Church, located at 1215 N. Von Minden, in La Grange, will be having Vacation Bible School, Monday, July 29 through Thursday, Aug. 1 from 5:30-8 p.m. Kids four years old through just graduated 5th grade will dive deep into an amazing undersea adventure where they will experience the ever-flowing, never-ending love of God and discover what living water is all about. Each day the adventure begins with a light dinner and continues with a Bible lesson, imagination station, crafts, science experiments, skits and games. Food Bank Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, July 20 from 10-11 a.m. The food will be distributed drive-thru method. Volunteers will distribute and load the pre-boxed food into each vehicle as the client drives through the line. Clients should clean out their back seats, trunks and truck beds to make room for the boxed food.

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Grief Support Group

Hospice Brazos Valley is offering a Caregivers Support group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange.
