Noon Lions Club

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, July 11 from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game day will be held every second and fourth Thursday of each month. All seniors are welcome. For more information, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.

The La Grange Noon Lions Club meets at noon at the Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club. Speakers for July are: Thursday, July 11, Chris Cooper with the La Grange High School Band; Thursday, July 18, Kendall Rohde with the Heaney Group; Thursday, July 25, Lions Michael Ahart and Diana Wilson with Leos Club.

Family Movie Night

A free Friday family movie night will be held July 12, with “The Stray”, based on a true story. Pluto, a stray dog, impacts the Davis Family in many ways including protecting nine year old Christian. Free hot dogs, big dill pickles, popcorn and drinks served at 6:30 p.m. Movie starts at 7 p.m. at New Life Methodist Church located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange in the Fellowship Hall. You are welcome to just show up, but if you want to RSVP to help on food count or have questions, call the church at (979) 968-8323.

For the Record on Page A2 & A5 The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 10 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. Guest speaker will be Fayette County Attorney Peggy Supak who will present a program to both the Post and the Auxiliary members jointly. Following the program, a light meal will be served. The Post and Auxiliary Unit will then continue their regular business meeting. The Unit will have their installation of the newly elected officers. Members are encouraged to attend and potential new members are always welcome.

Fayetteville City-Wide Garage Sale

Find your next treasure Saturday, July 13 at the City Wide Garage Sale in Fayetteville, City-wide and on the Fayetteville square. The Lions Club will be selling items at the Old Fire Station benefiting the Fayetteville Lions Club.

St. James BBQ

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue Saturday, July 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

Kappler,Groeschel,Berger,Wukasch Reunion All relatives and descendants of Andreas Kappler, Agnes Groeschel Kappler, John Ernst Berger, and Anna Wukasch Berger are invited to attend a family reunion at the Holy Cross Church Hall on Saturday, July 13 beginning at 10 a.m. A meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. Please bring enough food for your family. Paper goods, tea, and coffee will be provided by the reunion. Bring your own soft drinks and beer. Donation for beer provided will be taken. There is a playground for the children. Please notify all relatives and bring any addresses, pictures, family documents, and information to share with each other. Varsity Reserved Season Tickets

La Grange ISD varsity football reserved season ticket holders from the 2023 season may purchase reserved tickets at the La Grange ISD Admin. Building, 560 N. Monroe, beginning July 15 through July 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, closed Fridays. The cost of each reserved season ticket is $50 for five home games. Current reserved season tickets not claimed during this time will go on sale to the public July 29. Call (979) 968-7000 with any questions.

Festival Institute Percussion Showcase The Round Top Music Festival Percussion Showcase will be held Saturday, July 13, 1:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall located at 248 Jaster Rd. in Round Top. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. Performance by the 2024 Texas Festival Young Artists, program to be announced.

Season Closing Chamber Music Concert The Round Top Music Festival Closing Chamber Music Concert will be held Saturday, July 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall located at 248 Jaster Rd. in Round Top. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. Performance by Festival Institute Faculty: Jörg Widmann’s Es War Einmal, Robert Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen, Op. 132, Johannes Brahms’s String Sextet No. 2 in G major, Op. 36.

Camp Shakespeare Performance “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare presented by Camp Shakespeare at Winedale will be held Saturday, July 13 at 3 p.m. at the La Grange ISD Performing Arts Center. Texas Festival Orchestra Closing Concert The Round Top Music Festival Closing Orchestra Concert will be held Saturday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall located at 248 Jaster Rd. in Round Top. Tickets are $45 for adults and $10 for students. Performance by James Dick, piano, Delyana Lazarova, conductor, Texas Festival Orchestra: Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade, Op. 33, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “From the New World”, Op. 95.

VFW Post No. 5254, Auxiliary Meeting On Tuesday, July 16, Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.

The St. James United Methodist Church located at 710 N. Jackson will have Vacation Bible School on Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The theme is “Fun Time at Church”.
