Join this year’s Juneteenth Celebration June 14, 15, and 16 to celebrate the life and dream of African American history in Fayette County.
June 14 will include a Gospel Night starting at 6 p.m. Gospel artists include Debra Steward, “New Identity” from Brookshire,“The Soul Invaders” from Industry, and “The New Soul Invaders.” The grand parade will be held June 15 starting at 11 a.m. at 450 E. Travis St. in La Grange (La Grange H-E-B). Line up starts at 9:30 a.m. Applications for the parade available by email to 2540scowboy@gmail.com or call (979) 436-2217. After the parade, report back to the Randolph Center for free food and refreshments. Community Fellowship Services are at the Randolph Center at 653 E. Calling all students, K-12, join Fayette County Community Theatre as they travel to Narnia! Auditions for the Summer Student production: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe are Friday, June 14 at 5 p.m., Saturday, June 15 at 1 p.m., and Monday, June 17 at 5 p.m. at the La Grange ISD Performing Arts Center. Hermann Sons Life Rutersville
Hermann Sons Life Rutersville Lodge will have their member appreciation’s day on June 15. Social starts at 5 p.m. and a fried fish meal with sides will be served at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring appetizers or desserts. They may also bring items for the silent action.
The Round Top Festival Institute
The Orchestra Concert will be held Saturday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall, 248 Jaster Rd., Round Top. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for students performed by Festival Institute Faculty and 2024 Texas Festival Orchestra: Anna Clyne’s Masquerade, Béla Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2, BB 117, Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.
Chamber Music Concert
The Chamber Music Concert will be held Saturday, June 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall, 248 Jaster Rd., Round Top. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students performed by Festival Institute Faculty and 2024 Texas Festival Orchestra Young Artists string ensemble: Arno Babajanian’s “Armenian Rhapsody,” Zoltán Kodály’s “Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7,” Henri Tomasi’s “Cinq danses profanes et sacrées,” and Missy Mazzoli’s “Dark With Excessive Bright.”
Bingo in Ledbetter
Bingo for seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, June 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks will be available for freewill donation.
FWS Corporation Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the board of directors on Monday, June 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
Round Top Rifle Hall Social
The Round Top Rifle Hall social is held the first three Mondays of each month at the Round Top Rifle Hall located on FM 1457. The next social is Monday, June 17 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The kitchen serves from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The RTRH sells hamburgers, rooster burger (fried chicken burger), or hot dogs, french fries, or onion rings with all the fixings to your order.
St. Paul Vacation Bible School
St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church will be having their Vacation Bible School Day Camp on Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21. The day camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon daily and is open to children pre-kindergarten through completed 5th grade. The staff of Lutherhill Ministries will be leading the day camp with the theme: Real Wonder. The Church is located at 110 W. Walnut St. in La Grange. Library After-Hours Laser Tag
The Fayette Public Library will host an After-Hours Library Laser Tag on Tuesday, June 18, from 6:30-8 p.m. Teens ages 1218 are invited to the library during closed hours to play team laser tag. The library lights will be dimmed, and teens will be divided into two teams for an hour of fun throughout the library. Light refreshments and popcorn will be served. This is a registered event, and there are only 16 spots available, so reserve yours today! All library programs are free and open to the public. VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet OnTuesday, June 18, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. The Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.
Hostyn Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner The Hostyn KJT Society No. 3 will hold their annual drivethru fundraiser on Wednesday, June 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the La Grange KC Community Center. The barbecue pork steak dinner will include buttered noodles, vegetable blend, and a peach half for only $12 a plate. A bake sale will also be held in conjunction to benefit CREW, the Youth of the Hostyn & Plum parishes, with matching funds provided by the KJT Home Office. Juneteenth Garbage Schedule La Grange City offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 for Juneteenth holiday. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule. If you need additional information, call (979) 968-3127.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.The June meeting of the Area Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on Thursday, June 20 from 10-11 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl, in La Grange. Beekeepers Association Meeting
The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will meet on the first Saturday, of every month, at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 Honey Bee Biology presentation from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow, please bring your favorite entrée, side or dessert to share. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation. It is also a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2024 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join.
