Women’s League

The Texas Women’s League is accepting applications for its 2026 Community Grant Program through Sept. 15, 2025. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply at www. texaswomensleague.org. The League will also host its Quarterly Social on Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Mac’s Daqs in La Grange.

St. John Fish Fry

St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, located at 5743 Hwy. 159, will be having a fish fry on Saturday evening, Sept. 13. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. Dine-in preferred and free will donation. All are invited for an evening of fun and fellowship.

Texas Hold Em

Bingo For Seniors

Bingo for seniors, 60 and older plus guests, will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks available for a donation.

Farm Bureau Meeting

Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau dinner and 2025 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Cyndi Johnson, owner of The Market in Flatonia. A business meeting will follow the potluck meal. Members are asked to bring a meat tray, a salad, or a dessert dish.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, members of Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary will meet in the VFW Post Home at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Post and Auxiliary will gather for the solemn POW MIA Remembrance Ceremony. There will be discussion about celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. A meal will be provided and then the Post will have its’ meeting. Prospective new members are invited to attend.

Tax Assessor Collector (DMV) Hours

The Fayette County Tax Assessor Collector Office (DMV) will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 17 for a regional meeting and training and will resume normal business hours on Thursday, Sept. 18, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Registration is also availabe at the substations, Farmers Insurance, 501 Summit St., Schulenburg (979) 743-2120; Napa Store, 515 N. Bells Across America

Smith-McMillan Chapter, NSDAR, is hosting a Bells Across America on Wednesday, Sept. 17, on the lawn of the Fayette County Courthouse in La Grange. Gather at 2:45 p.m. and hear a few interesting facts about the Constitution. The Honorable Judge Mueller will read the Constitution Week Proclamation. At 3 p.m. we will ring bells for a minute. You are welcome to bring your own bell or use one of ours. This event takes place all across our great country to celebrate the signing of the Constitution which took place back in 1787. This year marks the 70th year the DAR will celebrate Constitution Week.

Fayette County Republican Women The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women General Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange. Check-in begins at 10:45 a.m. Lunch is available for $20. Program speaker will be Mr. Chris Russo, the founder and President of Texans for Strong Borders. Chris founded Strong Borders in 2022 after observing that while many special interest policy organizations exist across the conservative spectrum, no group was organized and actively pushing for Texas First border security and immigration policies at the state level. Medicare Education

Tammy Rush will present a program Thursday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Round Top Family Library of informative information and things you need to know as you sign up for Medicare. LHS Class of 1959 Reunion

Members of the La Grange High School class of 1959 will gather in La Grange at Sealand Restaurant, 2359 W. Travis, on Saturday, Sept. 20 for their 66th year class reunion. Annual Fall Meeting

The North Central Fayette County Wildlife Management Coop is having their Annual Fall Meeting on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will meet on the first Saturday of every month at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 Honey Bee Biology presentation from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow, please bring your favorite entrée, side or dessert to share. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation it is also a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2025 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations

The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.

Grief Support Groups

The Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support group will be held monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 10-11 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange. Loss of a Spouse Support Group will be held monthly on the third Tuesday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office. Loss of a Child support group will be held monthly on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office. Celebrate Recovery at Bridge Church Join us every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building at 3007 Cedar Creek Drive for Celebrate Recovery a Christ-centered program designed to help individuals heal from hurts, habits, and hang‑ups. The evening begins with worship and a lesson or testimony in the large group, followed by genderspecific small groups for sharing in a safe, supportive environment. Community Prayer Gathering

Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering. This is an area wide multi-church sponsored event. We meet the first Sunday of each month at Redimidos por Cristo church which is located across the street from Tejas Healthcare. The address is 131 S. College St. La Grange. We start at 5 p.m. Please join us as we pray for our local community, our nation and our world.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are at the Schulenburg Expo Center 1003 Kallus St. The Hope Group meets on Sundays at 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. These are open meetings, all are welcome. Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
