Garbage Schedule

The AMEN Food Pantry will be closed Monday, Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day and will reopen for food distribution on Monday, Sept. 8.

La Grange City offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, for the Labor Day Holiday. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage and recycle schedule. For more information, visit www. cityoflg.com or City of La Grange’s Facebook page, or call (979) 968-3127.

LG Road Runners

The La Grange Road Runners are hosting beginner square dance lessons Sept. 2 a test run to see how much fun it can be. Lessons will begin Sept. 9 and classes will be 6-7:30 p.m. each Tuesday evening at the Randolph Recreation Center 653 E. Pearl in La Grange. For more information call Lisa (281) 8665949.

Fish Fry Fundraiser

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host its Memorial Scholarship Fish Fry Fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 4 at the Knights of Columbus Community Center in La Grange from 4-6 p.m. Plates to-go drive-thru only for $15. Menu includes fried fish, cole slaw, buttered potatoes, pinto beans and hushpuppies. The public is cordially invited. Meal is on a first come, first served basis. No tickets available and no call-ins.

There’s more Sign ups for Tumbling and Gymnastics classes will be held Thursday, Aug. 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Registration will be held in the East gymnastics gymnasium (Building E). Enter through the rear north backside door. Classes start Sept. 8. All classes are limited in size. Fees: $100 a month, participate one time per week per child; $150 a month, participate two times per week (if siblings, $140 a month).

American Legion Quade Werchan

The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Sept. 4 at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Hwy. 237, Round Top. Prior to the meetings a social hour and a catered meal will be held in honor of the Post’s 103 anniversary and to recognize the students from Round Top-Carmine High School who attended the 2025 Girls State and 2025 Boys State Conventions this summer. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the catered meal served at 5:45 p.m. The post meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made through an email to Post Adjutant Bruce Bockhorn at bockhorn7402@hotmail.com

Tanecka Family Reunion

The Tanecka Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Fayette County Homemakers Building at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Each family is asked to bring a meat and a side dish or dessert for a potluck lunch to be served at noon. Paper goods and drinks will be provided. Please also bring an item for the silent auction. Muldoon Museum Hours

The Muldoon Museum will be open to visitors on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Please notify the museum if you have any special items that you would like to donate.

Community Literacy Day 2025

BRIDGE is excited to announce Community Literacy Day, a family-friendly event celebrating the joy of reading and the importance of literacy in our rural communities, on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Schulenburg Public Library from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 310 Simpson St., Schulenburg and at the Stanzel Museum from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. The day will begin at the Public Library followed by engaging activities at the museum with literacy activities for children and families. Free giveaways and community resources. The first 100 families to arrive will receive a complimentary swag bag. This event is hosted in collaboration with the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Little Readers Program.

Fayette County Beekeepers Meeting The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange (255 Svoboda Ln). The evening begins with Beekeeping 101 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. a session perfect for beginners or anyone curious about getting started with honey bees.At 5:30 p.m. we’ll enjoy a potluck dinner please bring a favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. Following dinner, we’ll hold our regular business meeting, then welcome this month’s guest speaker: Lynne Jones, owner of Brazos River Honey in Sealy. Lynne will present on the Texas Honey Labeling Requirements and the recent changes implemented during the legislative session. This presentation will be especially valuable for beekeepers who sell or plan to sell honey, offering clear guidance on staying compliant with the latest rules. Annual club membership is just $25 per individual or family, but guests are always welcome. FaycoBeeks meets on the first Saturday of each month (except in July).
